Cole traded to Pelicans - Former Cane great John Salmons to Heat. If kept, will provide solid defense and 3pt shooting

Im ok with the Cole trade. He would have just fallen further on the bench. Dragic is a real upgrade at PG. With Dragic, Wade, Deng, Bosh and Whiteside as your starting 5, that is a scary team come playoffs, if we can stay healthy that is.. 2 solid pick ups this year for the Heat in Whiteside and Dragic..

Salmons if kept could be a nice addition as well. Do we still have the player exemption or did we lose that at the deadline? Could that be used on a guy like Beasley or even Ray Allen?

As Ira mentioned in a recent Ask Ira - a beas-Heat reunion is highly unlikely. The Heat run a completely different system on both ends now, especially defensively and thats always been a weakness for Beas

Cole is the surest thing gone for now - no confirmation on the rest. I cant imagine we gave up that many players, unless we got players back as opposed to draft picks or cash... We just wouldnt have enough guys to use. Unless the Heat are now planning to make use of their injury exception and adding other players some way

Heat on trade call now: Dragics from PHX to MIA. Granger, Cole, Hamilton from MIA to PHX. Williams from MIA to NOP. Salmons from NOP to PHX.

Again, I am most interested in seeing what we are getting back to fill the roster spots. Gotta imagine Tyler Johnson will be replaced as well - just doesnt fit at this point - cant imagine him staying with us if the plan is to continue to improve to make a playoff push - and I say this only because while the kid has shown us good things, he is still young and raw - which means we can upgrade over him - and should

Birdman didnt go anywhere - Dont think the Heat wouldve gotten much in return for him. Thats just the fact of the matter. As you said, he is declining - so no one probably wanted to sacrifice too much to get him. Yes, he is a fan favorite but that shouldnt be a reason to keep him around. The hustle is great but that is often when he looks his age, or older

Marc Stein of ESPN said the Cole trade came at the deadline buzzer. Almost didnt happen. Wouldve been good for it not to and we keep him

Sorry guys..would have posted earlier on this trade but immediately after hearing it I masturbated myself into a coma. I cannot believe Riley pulled this off. We got a 3rd team all NBA PG for a pack of skittles and half drank diet coke.

My question is, who will be the first to criticize Spo, Riles and the rest of the front office the first moment Dragic and any other addition we make has a bad game or a string of bad games? And who will be the first idiot to blame Spo for these moves if they dont work out.

Some of you have praised the heck out of this move - I believe some have said that this move, along with our current starters make us a more middle of the pack team in the east, if not better - so I am guessing you are expecting the Heat to win at least 70% of their remaining games if not all of them?
