Even with Derby out, the Fins did not make a move to promote a TE from their P-Squad as some suggested they should/could, at least for depth. Nick O'Leary would've been that guy.

So, the Fins will go with 2 healthy TEs only in this game in Mike Gesicki and Durham Smythe.

This would make most believe that this would mean more touches for both of these TEs, at least Gesicki as the better pass-catching TE threat -- BUT, seeing as how the Fins have neglected the TE in the passing game for so long -- I am still not optimistic that these two TEs will get even a reasonable amount of targets.


I hope I am proven wrong. But with the aggressive-at all cost approach the Fins have taken offensively this season and pretty much choosing to go for the long ball if they aren't throwing screens behind the line of scrimmage -- I don't see this week being the week either of these guys emerge to what we hope and know they can be.

I don't see this as the week we figure out how to cover TEs, either -- at least not consistently enough.

I am thinking that Gesicki may get some catches. It will depend on the coverage that the Pats use on defense. This would be a great game for him to get his first TD.

RE Smythe: He is an excellent blocker who could also make plays if the Pats overlook him. Both of these guys could make an impact in the game.

The Fins will probably look to establish the run which will open up the passing game.

Hey FFF, we have disagreed many times. Not surprising considering our teams. I have enjoyed most of the disagreements we have had. Calling you out for making excuses prior to playing the game seems appropriate. Take it how you like but you are better than this. May the better team win Sunday.....

This isn't personal no one is saying that you are a cheat but I'm sorry your team simply has a less than honorable past. I've seen far too many bizarre and strange calls happen in NE to feel confident that things will be fairly called. Do you blame us? If you can't come to terms with this then fine that's your opinion. Of course if all things are fair no problem let the best team win. I pray for that!

No Reshad Jones today even though he practice the last two seasons -- I believe in full. if I am not mistaken. So, this could be just precautionary and just giving him an extra week - or, once again, Adam Gase and the team holding out a player that practice without a problem the last couple of days, if not the entire week.

Lets see how things go today against the Cheatriots and the refs.

Not sure what the issue is with Gesicki -- but there goes any hope I had about getting the TE involved in this game.

On a positive note, Kalen Ballage is active for the first time this season - whether or not Adam Gase will be willing to use him instead of burning our two primary RBs remains to be seen.

Or they can just take Brady's knees out at some point in the first drive and solve it all at once.

Cheatriots win toss and elect to differ

Thankfully, the Cheatriots won the toss so we get the chance to go on offense first and set the tone

And, of course, the Dolphins find a way to waste the opening drive -holding penalty sets them back and then the Fins throw their favorite route: Behind the line of scrimmage screen pass that loses even more yards on third and long.

Fins had the Cheatriots in a third down situation with some good defense - so of course the refs have to step in to help the Cheatriots continue their drive by throwing a bogus flag.

And then, as usual, the Cheatriots hold on every play - but of course it never gets cold.

Fins "hold" the Cheatriots to a FG, but as usual - the defense let the offense move the ball with ease -- putting up little to no fight at all. As usual, constant assists by the refs for the Cheatriots that drive.
