Are they referring to the home or road opener? I'd like to see DeGrom get it because at the end of the day he was one of the few reasons to watch the team last year.

Not sure.....that's on TC and the coaching staff.....but I would think it's for the season opener.....but who knows w/ Collins.....smh.

They're on the road for 1 week to open the season before their home opener..so it could end up being DeGrom getting both, the season, and the home opener.

So Bartolo Colon is starting game 1. The real reason for this? They want Matt Harvey to start game 2 of their homestand to help sell tickets. That's how our broke owners operate now. The home opener will obviously draw fans, they're thinking ahead to the 2nd home game which probably wouldn't sell as many.

In the grand schemes of things I don't really care, it's just annoying that the Mets have to resort to these petty, under the radar tactics to get some money. You are a baseball team in New York and you're pinching pennies and worrying about money? Sell the franchise!

This isn't a big deal. His first game is a 1pm start so I think they're trying to get him out there in the best possible weather. If they announce him for opening day and the weather is bad they would probably scratch him anyway. DeGrom for the home opener shouldn't bother anyone
