Mets acquire Marcus Stroman

The Mets can't even underpay for a pitcher correctly, because in doing so they lowered Syndergaard's trade value by setting that market standard.

I suppose they could flip them both trying to corner the market on starting pitching. I just don't think that is something that they are intelligent or gutsy enough to do.

The Mets are a team in need of having a firesale, but instead they're trading away assets from an already baron farm system to land one of the top starting pitchers on the trade market. Unless there's another deal coming, this doesn't make any sense to me.

Mets needed to start a rebuild last season.

Stroman wants to be there. He's from NY. That's the only reason I can see that they went for that move is that he'll give them a hometown discount, because the Yankees will be looking for better by the time he gets to free agency.

The trade makes some sense if they trade away Synderguard for some developmental pieces. They would have a strong one-two punch next year with degrom and stroman. But, I saw something from one of the analysts yesterday saying the mets were looking to trade Synderguard for immediate help. As if they really think they are still in contention...

Radio guys were talking about this the other day, that Stroman is a Long Islander like Matz, so he wants to come here. But playing for your hometown team doesn't always pan out. In fact, it USUALLY doesn't pan out.

he has gone about .500 in the al east over the years ....why not come to weak division and boost those stats for a big pay day down the road

Trade all your rentals to get some prospects and go into 2020 with deGrom, Thor, Stroman and Matz.
