Actually I was thinking of the Los Angeles Kings who won the Stanley Cup Finals being an 8th seed and even though it was the NHL and not the NBA, it does establish the pattern that most major league sports are trying to pattern. They want 8th seeded teams to have an equal chance.
Now I was thinking that the Grizzlies hadn't played a game yet - so that was my only mistake, but I will take the blame because I should have known that Jim Doors wasn't smart enough to know what I was talking about and should have remembered it was like talking to a 13 year old teenager in heat
