Member Phil Costa?

Man this offensive line has come a long way. Just thinking out loud.

I know everyone wants to gush over or Tackle & our Guard, but my favorite moment & the turning point of our O-line woes was when we drafted our center in the 1st round. Quite frankly I hope every so many years we keep (wasting as some think) a 1st on the O-line.

With all that said the trenches win the championships & I hope we start looking at the D-line soon!

I think Frederick is the most important piece on the line. The guy is a rock, and in my opinion the most dependable player on the team. He always gets his job done. His teammates gush about Frederick's intelligence - seems to be very well liked. Arguably the best Center in football for the past 2-3 seasons.

I was not happy with the trade we made on draft night in 2013, I thought Dallas got fleeced. Will McClay is a football genius, and I am not.

Boy, I don't know about that. IMO T Smith is currently the best OL in the NFL and Zach Martin will be in about a year or two. It's quite possible Frederick will be right there with both of them, but he is just a step behind IMO. Great center and I really believe he is the best center in the league, but I think Martin ends up one of the greatest Guards of all time. ALL TIME. No shame being #2 or #3 on this OL.

Remember the thing about Costa was that he played both Guard and Center. He wasn't good at either, but was valuable on gameday because you backed up both with one roster spot

I agree and said so many times over years just how important the center position is in professional football. You have to have talent throughout the oline to be as good as out line is, but my opinion remains...It starts at center.

I second that. The guys running the draft are on a roll, I'd love to see them attack the DLine the same way they did when they rebuilt the OLine. It's the same deal as it is with the offense, if you dominate up front, your LB's and DB's will suddenly become much better units

For what Dallas does -- inside power run team, pocket passing -- having a sturdy guy like Frederick is more important than an All-World LT, I think. This team survived without Tyron Smith, albeit only a for a few games. I don't know if Dallas would fare as well without Frederick.

Just as an aside, look at the careers of guys like Drew Brees and Tom Brady. Those two have traditionally not had the greatest OTs blocking for them, but usually have a pretty formidable G/C combo. Being able to step up in the pocket is so crucial.
