Why do you put tomatoes, especially that canned crap, in your chili?

The juice in the can serves as a better base liquid IMO than just plain water unless I'm making green chili in which case I'll use chicken broth. I'm not gonna waste the tomatoes just for the juice and I actually like the flavor of them. It's the only canned ingredient I use unless i'm adding some kidney beans which I seldom do.

You act like you've never heard of tomatoes in chili. There's more than one way to make it. Any real cook knows that.

Nebraska held an open practice back in like 2005.......

Half the stadium was filled......it was ridiculous.

And in related news, The only other thing going on in Nebraska that day...corn grew.

That makes it a true chili. No beans equal hot dog sauce. :2cents:

That is indeed your personal opinion.

Most competition chili's do not have beans.

Yes I know there are different kinds of chili, but I'll only do with or without beans. No tomatoes. And I use beef stock instead of water to add flavor, as you say. Also prefer to use chopped up short rib (with the bones in the pot to simmer) or cut up a whole chuck steak after browning it, instead of using ground beef.

You guys are way off topic here. Chili is a generic term for damn near anything with chili peppers in it. Only us Americans could somehow turn that into a debate where none of us are actually right. "That isn't chili!" "No yours isn't chili!" Shutup and let's get back to making fun of Brasky's dumb ass.
