Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Bryant McKinnie - T - Vikings

NFL Network Vikings correspondent Ari Wolfe suggested live from Mankato Tuesday that LT Bryant McKinnie could be released in training camp.
Wolfe was only speculating, but the sentiment was echoed by NFL Network's Jason La Canfora and is undoubtedly becoming a possibility. By all accounts, McKinnie is severely out of shape and believed to weigh even more than the 360 pounds he ballooned to by last season's end. (He's listed at 335.) McKinnie is due a $4.9 million salary plus $750,000 in bonuses, the latter of which are being withheld with McKinnie on the the active/NFI list. Monday's signing of Charlie Johnson appears to be a direct indication of the Vikings' concern.

It's been a couple years overdue.
The dummy said he was going to hire a trainer during this offseason to lose the weight and work on his speed, but instead reports to camp heavy?
Not sure if that rumor to release him is true yet, but not many Vikes fans would lose sleep over it.

Bryant McKinnie - T - Vikings

Vikings released LT Bryant McKinnie.
A classic example of wasted talent, McKinnie made just one Pro Bowl in nine seasons with the Vikings when he had the natural ability of a Jonathan Ogden or Willie Roaf. His undoing in training camp was showing up so fat and out of shape that beat writers noticed he looked much heavier than the already overweight 360 pounds McKinnie had ballooned to by last season's end. When it's noticeable that 6-foot-8, 350-plus pound people have packed on a significant amount of weight, you've got a real problem on your hands. McKinnie was also a notorious party animal off the field. The Vikings will concede the downgrade to Charlie Johnson in exchange for permanently shedding a team cancer. They're also off the hook for McKinnie's $4.9 million salary plus $750K in bonuses.

The header should read.

The last of the love boat clowns hits the road.
I'm not sure why they call him a Pro bowler.
When he partied so much he didn't even play in the game.

“He’s a terrific player right now, but for where we are right now and where we’re trying to go to, it just wasn’t the right fit for the direction that we want to go"

The direction they wanted to go was to not get the QB killed every down.
McDummy gave up sacks like they were trophys..
A couple seasons ago they had to pull him out of the game against Carolina, Peppers was getting to the QB every down it seemed.

Another athlete that's always been one of the hardest for me to root for. (See Braylon Edwards thread for the same comment).

NFP Sunday Blitz | National Football Post

*More than one NFL executive will be surprised if Bryant McKinnie is playing anytime soon because he is so grossly out of shape that he would endanger his health by suiting up. McKinnie’s listed playing weight was 335, but his normal playing weight has been about 350. He usually would report to camp at about 365 and work off the weight before the season started. This year after the lockout he reported to the Vikings at 386 pounds. He was so heavy he couldn’t even finish a workout. When the Vikings let go of the 10 year vet, there subsequently were no objections in the locker room.
