I think whatever our opinions are on these athletes at this moment in time, it's important that we all stick to some simple truths...

(1) Whichever one you favor now is who you must favor a decade from now, i.e.- no changsies!

Edmonton doesn't know or forgot how to develop talent.

I said before the season started that I think not only will Eichel have more points than MCDavid, but would also have the better NHL career. I stand by my stance. I'm still laughing at Sabres fans for being disappointed claiming they got screwed again for picking 2nd instead of 1st.

The disappointment was as much to do with the fact that the choice is taken away from you. I would have been perfectly content if the Sabres had taken Eichel #1 overall. It would have been nice to have the choice is all.

But mostly we were pissed because it was the freaking Oilers again.

I know that feeling. Happened to us with the Yak/Murray draft. If the Jackets went first overall, I am reasonably sure they would have taken Murray anyway (bad luck with Russian wingers). But when it looked like Edmonton was going to then we looked to have to choose between a Russian winger or a Center which we didn't necessarily need. Ryan Murray was exactly what fit the need at that point.

Fortunately, Edmonton made it easy for us.




And yes, even with the injury woes so far, I am still glad they got Murray instead of Yak. Although Galchenyuk is clearly the class of that draft at this point...
