Hated mcgwire...sosa..who cared about him. You just knew these 2 were on steriods.
Same as bonds. But. He was under scrutiny...more. us. He would be lucky to get 1 strike to swing at. Per AB.. some times 1 per game.. He wasn't as much of a phoney as those 2. Running around hugging and smiling.

It was a black and white thing..........of course they were gonna do that....Didn`t wanna make it a some type of race war..........And what was not to like with McGwire.........?

It's just laughable to say that "you don't hear a peep" from Rose because he knew he cheated. Except for the fact that he denied it for years and has applied for reinstatement multiple times and has appealed to the Hall to change their rule.

I always took mark McGwire as the darling of baseball back then........I always portrayed him as clean as the driven snow......(and this coming from a die-hard Cub fan)........bonds was just always an asshole..........Very easy to hate.

And Sammy,yeah looking back,I could see where people could dislike him easily......

Sammy also had the corked bat incident which made him look like he just had to have something to help him hit homers.

As I recall, and was refreshed by this link, McGwire basically went in the back door on that. The so-called "health reasons" ... almost everyone who used PEDs could say that since it actually was partially true for a lot of them. I personally never had an issue with him and he hit some home runs that I still can't believe. A couple of them in Miami for sure.

I recall back when we had a stats league. I had Glenn Davis, I recall, as my 1B and McGwire as my backup. McGwire was coming off a .205 season or some such. Davis got hurt the first day or so and I had to put McGwire in. He responded with something like 11 home runs the first 3 weeks of the season.
