My take is that if Nagy used Jordan Howard 61% of the time; mind you, a player Nagy didn't like, I can't imagine that he'd use Mongtomery less, a player that they moved up in the draft to get.
Plus they also said they want to scale back Cohen's touches. Not sure how that factors in? Maybe the Bears just don't have him return punts?

As for Guice, yeah, I'm not encouraged by what I read.
And the fact that you passed on him is a little unsettling.
But I figure with Gruden's job on the line, no way he doesn't push Guice.
He wouldn't want to get canned by running out a fossil like Adrian Peterson over a 2nd round pick in Guice.

Yeah.

Pretty much exactly my thought process too.

If Guice's knee was 100% that would have been my pick. But it does make me feel good that our resident Bears fan and rookie hater would have taken Montgomery in this spot.
