I was talking to a friend about JV the other day. He has been horribly overused the past 3 seasons. I saw a stat that he has thrown something well over 1000 more pitches than anyone else in baseball over the past 6 seasons. That is crazy.

This is what you get with ace pitchers. They lose a couple ticks for one reason or another, and they are suddenly mediocre. There are a long line of ace pitchers who have followed this path. Lincecum and Ubaldo Jimenez are recent examples. Although his crash and burn will not be as dramatic as the other 2, Verlander is next in that line IMO. I will not be drafting him anywhere next year.

In the Yahoo article about JV, someone made the point that Verlander, Cain and Hamels all signed for big bucks last year.

Things that make you go Hmmmmm....

I'm not begging for Manny or anything, but did the Rangers really sign him to play in Round Rock? What's the sense? He is what he is, what are they waiting for, a hot streak? That would just be stupid because he can just as easily begin a hot streak in the majors. Sounds like Berkman is done, but if they trade for Michael Young, that wouldn't be very smart, IMO.

Doesn't make sense to me either. Then again, the long term deal for Elvis Andrus was somewhat of a head scratcher too. Trade Andrus for a mid-level prospect or two and give Profar his every day time at SS.

Alfonso Soriano is Mitch Williams' "hot pick" tonight.

I'm ready for the 0-fer.

Nobody has made any trade offers for Braun yet. What gives? Am I missing something?

I need to rant.

KC vs Sale... Moose takes a seat, but Chris Getz is allowed to bat? Tejada can play 2nd.

Ron Washington... Keep throwing your Engels and Elvisesizzizz out there in the two hole, why take Martin out of the sacred 9-hole? that would be crazy talk!

Rangers front office... Seriously? You sign a 41 year old to take the place of some prospect to what, make your AAA team scarier? The man doesn't need a tune up, he was already playing, and if he does, he's tuned up, 6 strikeouts in nearly 60 at bats, lots of fly balls, where do you want them to start landing, in Round Rock's empty seats or Arlington's packed house??? Manny's not ready for MLB... but David Murphy is? Jeff Baker? I don't get it, really, I don't.

Yankees... thanks for giving Nova any help, my money league doesn't need it anyway... not!

Astros... fucking trade Bud Norris already, or STFU about possibly doing so!

...there, I feel better now.

My money league isn't having the best luck at 11-21 (two games per week), most points against! That being said, I'm near the bottom in points for, as my timing has just been off with pitching... and my hitters weren't really all that great to begin with... and I probably used up my luck last year when I won. .. (and maybe a little this year in our MBBRL)!!

Cheers!

I'll give you Tim Hudson for him.

LOL.

I am not sure the trade would do either of us any good, but I bet Braun would gladly trade places with Hudson right now. Injuries heal, Braun's rep is done.

No worries TKO. I am sure that Martin's success is because he is batting in the 9 hole, right? If they move him up, he will start hitting like Andrus.

For all the fuss about Harvey's innings, they are saying he's still got about 10 starts to go. Not quite the same as the Strasburg situation. At least you were able to drop Braun. He was a "no-cut" for me.

I was thinking about grabbing Rutledge in my money league. He is raking offensively again. With LeMahieu not really hitting at all anymore, I was wondering what you guys thought about a possible (re)switch? How has Rutledge's defense been? Probably better than the Rockies offense... last in the league in July!! Last!

Thoughts?

Darn Pujols!!

Anyway.... I'm going to need a 1B....
(hopefully yahoo dl's him today)
But can offer a SP if anyone likes...range of SPs to offer based on the kind of return.
Price, Verlander, Moore, Fernandez, Fister, Miller, Harvey, Wheeler, Parker or Beachy.
Thanks! (that's a lot of SPs...not sure I'd even realized lol)

As far as Rutledge goes TKO, what are your other options?
Thanks! (I thought Rutledge was still in minors....I'd be surprised if they bring him up without an injury prior to September, but who knows)

:agree: Crapshoot. Rockies seem to have really soured on Rutledge and are focusing on defense, but like Philabuster says, who knows? :noidea:

Not a need position wise, just a hunch that the Rockies will make the switch again (yes, Rutledge is in AAA right now)... but I'm wondering how his defense has been, because if it's anywhere close to tolerable, I think his bat and legs are due for a turnaround if given the chance. LeMahieu had a nice little run, but he's back down to .270 now and offers nothing else but his glove... why they have him hitting 2nd I don't know, what I do know is that the Marlins have scored more runs this month.

I'd be dropping Raburn (who I just added for this week for my DH spot, which I can now fill with Jeter)

I'm a big fan of the "gut call" :)
I just don't think he's got the high upside bat...but I've been hesitant on him, even last year.... (another "gut call"? :).... they're usually right half the time for most of us lol)
Maybe Castellanos?

Maybe Castellanos?

Had him earlier in the year, but had to let him go. He is currently owned, but I'm wondering if Garcia shouldn't get another crack (this time a full time gig) in LF. He's embarrassing the opposing pitching in the minors, while Castellanos is struggling (again) around the .250 line... and while we're on the concept of defense, I'm thinking Garcia has him there too. Garcia is currently unowned...? Problem is, I don't think Leyland will stray from Dirks, Kelly and Tuiasosopo (sp?).

oh, and by the way, THANK YOU VERY MUCH MR. LESTER!!! (insert the Adam Sandler clip from Billy Madison, thanking Ms. Lippy)
