I think Leyland blew it there. Why give Nathan the save over Mo? I think that's a little disrespectful of the best (arguably) closer of all time in his last AS game... but that's me.

I'm not a big Leyland fan as far as his in-game managing.
The one thing I can say about him though is he has great respect for the players, the game and the history of the game.
What an awesome AS game moment really!! Having Mo out on the field alone was really amazing and showed the greatest respect for him.
It really didn't matter what inning it was. Leyland wasn't taking any chances of that not happening for Mo, as unlikely as it may have been.
I think he did the right thing. And no one will ever remember it was the 8th inning, but they'll sure remember the moment. Cool game.
Nice triple for Prince too haha.

Prince's triple was awesome! My favorite part of the game. My cynical side says that the network wanted to get Mariano in the game before 11 EST for whatever ratings purposes.

Lowlights: Joe Buck and Tim McCarver

Best Moment That Made You Laugh and Wince At The Same Time: McCarver quoting "Enter Sandman" ("We're off to Never-Never Land") with the same reverence given to Shakespeare.

As great as Mariano is, and he is the best, him getting the games M.V.P was a sham. He was not the best player in that game.

Yeah. Would he really want it that way? Maybe if he came on in the 9th when Nathan had runners on and struck out the side or something... It was too predictable and there should be an *asterisks (sp?) beside this, just as much as Bonds' HR number. Baseball acts like they want to do the "right thing" all the time, but their actions are usually opposite.

Good deal Rev. Good luck with Mr. Lester, he's given me too many headaches... as I'm sure Crawford has given you!

While you were sleeping, and not looking and paying attention, Derek Lowe retired from baseball.

Hope you were not waiting for some sort of miraculous comeback.

Burning question of the day: Who will be the MLBPA's sacrificial lamb?

Stay tuned, Sports Fans....

I've gotten no headaches from Crawford, probably because he's spent most of his time on the DL.
Now that he's healthy, he's been replaced and has no place to play.

Despite his numbers I like Lester. Then again he's not on any of my teams so ask me in a month if I still feel the same way about him.

Here is your official week 15 midweek review:

Grand Salami vs. WHIP my FIP- Current score Grand 5, WHIP 4

Each team has 1 category locked up, runs and Ks respectively, WHIP has the edge in BA and Grand has the edge in RBI, ERA and wins.

HR, SB, S, and WHIP will determine the eventual outcome of this match-up.

Dub vs. Soggy Bottom Boyz- Current Score Soggy 6, Dub 4

Dub has BA locked up and the Boys will win Ks. Each team has slight leads in 3 categories, while HRs and RBI are up for grabs. Either team could win this match-up if they can protect their leads and win the swing cats.

Wolfpack vs. Fudpuckers- Current Score Fud 6, Wolf 4

The Pack has a strong edge in HRs and Fud will win Saves. Like the previous match-up, There are 6 categories (3 each way) where either side has decided edges, but they are not insurmountable. BA and K's are the two cats that could go either way and could swing the match-up.

TKOut vs Sarnia Tigers- Current Score TKO 9, Sarnia 1

TKO put the hurt on first place Sarnia Tigers last week. Sarnia will need a lot of good luck to close the gap since 4 of his pitchers are without starts. He opted to bench a couple RPs with his saves lead, but that one looks very tenuous at the moment as TKO will run 3 closers out to try and take that point back. Saves and Runs are up in the air, TKO has the edge everywhere else. Sarnia would do very well to get this back to 7-3.

Yellow Fuzzy vs. D Dude's Dodgers- Current Score Dude 6, Fuzzy 4

This match-up has 5 categories that can still go either way (ERA, W, RBI, SB, BA). Fuzzy actually has 3 advantages in the other cats while the Dude has 2. This one will result in some nervous finishes on Sunday for two teams needing a win.

Sportsboys vs. Big League Chew- Current Score 5-5

This one is tied, but the result isn't likely to change all that much. In fact, we may not see any change at all. SBs is the only category that is truly up for grabs. Most of the edges are slight, but they will still be difficult to overcome in a 3 game week.

Enjoy the finish to these match-ups and good luck all!

You still have more starts and all of those guys are likely to get blown up. I think you may be better off with Sale in there given that you are ahead already.

I left 2 pitchers on my bench for this micro-week, while Bronson Arroyo will sit active and idle until Monday. However, I did this on purpose, as I did not trust Ian Kennedy or Bud Norris to come through for me. This may cost me the K's win, but I was already behind, and, as I am hoping my opponents pitching will faulter, leaving the era & whip cats for me.

This should make someone heres day a little worse. Please, don't shoot the messenger......

Jose Fernandez’s outstanding rookie season will come to a premature end, as Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald reports that the Marlins plan to shut the 20-year-old rookie down once he reaches around 170 innings.
Coming into the season the Marlins talked about limiting Fernandez to 150-170 innings, but he’s been so good that they’re willing to stretch that a little bit if needed. Still, he’s already thrown 105 innings and is on pace to throw about 185, so he’s going to miss some starts at some point.
Fernandez made the jump from Single-A to the majors after throwing 134 innings in the minors last season, so the Marlins are being smart by limiting his workload in a non-contending season. His future is extremely bright and Fernandez made his first All-Star team by throwing 105 innings with a 2.75 ERA and 103/40 K/BB ratio in the first half.

Ya, I've been worried about him and Shelby Miller.
Hopefully Verlander gets on track. Not convinced Beachy will help at this point, but who knows :)
