I'm just sayin', though...you never know...something could be ::ahem:: brewing...:noidea:

It is what it is :noidea:, no need to stop posting.

Damn, you moved fast on Adams. Poor Arenado, but I think next year will be more his time to shine. :ohwell:

I should have been on top of that. I've got Holliday in my other league and the sad part is Adams is available there and I can't pick him up. I've got Votto & Goldschmidt and no place for him to play.

Guess I can still grab him in Big D's roto league. edit* oops, I forgot I got Goldschmidt, Fielder, Donaldson & Machado there.

So, Philabuster picking up Adams reminds me that I have Holliday on another team. I go there to snag Adams, and I realize I also have Heyward. Can a brother get a break? :wtf2:

Ryan Braun placed on the bereavement list. Word is he's attending the funeral of his baseball career.

Hey! The guy from Razzball stole my line! :wtf2:

My keeper league is a strange animal, and by that I mean closers have like no value to people (at least no trade value that is). I've been trying to trade Mujica for a starting pitcher for weeks and nobody is interested. I even tried packaging him and Rosenthal since we count saves & holds, and nothing. I wasn't even looking for an ace, just someone dependable to anchor the bottom half of my rotation.

After 2 weeks of trying I finally said screw it today and picked up Tyler Clippard to pair with them. I wanted to punt saves but nobody would let me, so now I'll just make them pay.
I should be able to get one more closer/relief pitcher for Taveras or Yelick.

Hey! The guy from Razzball stole my line! :wtf2:

I can top that. 6 years ago I did a logo for one of the guys in my league. Last week I was looking around online for ideas for a logo for someone and I came across this one for the Billings Mustangs (I found out they redid their logo in 2009).

Here's the one I did in 2008 and the one they came out with in 2009

I still have the original bitmap and gif images I used for the original.
I'm seriously considering going after these fuckers.

Same thing in my league. I think once you start valuing holds too (like I do and completely agree with) it alters the supply/demand dynamic making relievers less sought after. In my league you have the option of using 2-4 active relievers even with 14 teams and there's still guys like Clippard, Peralta, O'Day, McGee, Veras available (top 5 in pts as FAs) Makes it so nobody pays for relievers because of the endless supply . I agree with this though, because even in the mlb, relievers are the cheapest commodity (minus the few elite). That's why I love the MI and CI slots...as they become really the most important similarly.

I still shouldn't have dealt Chapman likely though haha.

This is the first year we've used saves+holds, but it's been like this for years. Any year I decide to punt saves I've usually tried to package 2 closers but have never gotten an offer of more than a substandard starter who is no better than the guys on waivers.

As for the CI & MI slots, we're adding them for next year. At least Chef and I will have that advantage over the rest of the guys in my league thanks to the MBBRL.

Can I ask you a question about this?
How many keepers?
Did you give a couple years' notice before doing this? (or if few keepers maybe wouldn't matter)
Just wondering about how you add something like this.
In my league we've talked about going to RF, CF, LF as an example...but it really is such a dramatic change that I think it would need 2-3 years notice in order to give everyone the same foundation.
Maybe I'm over-protective.....how did you handle it?
Thanks!!!!

Hey, i'm in over there, just kinda checkin' things out. I definitely need to study the holds situation.

It's 8 keepers (12 teams - 25 man roster)
I brought it up in the middle of May for discussion and vote. We had an 8 man bench and while people love the deep bench, many complain (for lack of a better word) of having good guys on their bench with no place to play. Everyone has 1-2 backups right now for 1st/3rd and everyone has at least one backup for SS or 2nd so overall, it shouldn't change the way people draft. The only thing that changes is the incredibly deep bench.

I think going to RF,CF,LF is a more dramatic change than just adding a CI & MI slot, but a good change from what I've seen in the MBBRL.

Usually as things get brought up I keep a running list and bring them up one by one early/mid-season as it's hard to get a discussion going in the off-season, let alone a vote (and there are a few that don't join in and have to have their teeth pulled to vote). That's why I brought up things in our league early, that's what I'm used to doing.

I'm still working out the details with the co-commish but we are adding a few minor league keeper slots, but like you brought up above we consider something like this a dramatic change so this will not go into effect until 2015.

I was wondering when he'd finally get around to it. Welcome.
I'll catch you up on everything this weekend.

Oh yea, ignore the 40 f/a thing for the year, that's changing to a weekly limit next year due to the added roster spots, the additional n/a slot and impending minor league keepers the following year.

You'll have to get used to the extra hitting & pitching categories as well. 7x7

Thanks Rev. Appreciate your reply. :)

It's always good to hear how others do things :) And it can only help make each commish/owner better!

It's a learning curve when you are in league full of new people, but once you've been playing together for years you get to know what will work, who the problem children are and how to tackle things.

We started out as a 10 team league and 6 of the 10 are still here, and we had an expansion draft in 2008 which went off without a hitch. We lost a few owners for various reason over the years (and I had to fire a few of the replacement owners after a year as they suffered from an acute case of suckitus), but we've basically stabilized and have had the same people for the last 3 years.
