Brock Holt is a pretty nice hitter. The Red Sox would probably be in better shape had they just gone with Holt over Middlebrooks from the get go. However, his (Holt's) upside is nothing to get excited about, so with Drew coming back, what do you guys think happens to Holt? Can't see them platooning Bogaerts vs RHP, so he's probably getting the boot, or back up duty, right?

The reason I ask is that I'm trying to tread water at 3rd waiting for Aramis to get back in my money league, and am wondering on whether or not to go with Holt or Chris Johnson.

I think I'd take a chance on Johnson. Once Drew is activated, Holt's time is done likely. They may platoon Drew, with Bogaerts moving to SS freeing 3B up so it's not assured that Holt will be optioned...he just won't get the same at bats as Johnson will (not that that is a good thing presently)

Johnson was claimed before me, so there goes that... oh well, not gonna get worked up about losing out on him.

This wouldn't be a problem if Scioscia would just do the right thing with Cron/Ibanez.

Y'know, I was thinking about that. Maybe they promoted Cron over Scioscia's head? Is he one of those managers blindly loyal to veterans, ala Dusty Baker?

He is very much so, Chef. I don't know how Calhoun is exempt, but this is "I want to be fired" managing. It makes absolutely no sense, Raul Ibanez is probably the best prototypical pinch hitter in the game today. I can't stop writing/thinking about it... it's making me insane.

If Calhoun keeps batting behind Ibanez in the lineup, he's also gonna go insane.

If Cron were to play everyday and hit .230, he'd still be 80 points better than Mr. 0-3 with a walk.

I don't think it's THAT funny! Haha...
Champ to Chump does suck though.
I still hope Kemp clubs 20 more HRs Chef! There's no crying in baseball (no laughing either Rev haha)

Sorry, they don't make a smiley that only chuckles:rollseyes:
You can laugh at me in the other league where I have Votto, Belt & Zimmerman on the DL. Plus I just get Calhoun back and Springer goes down. Yup, going from first to worst there, I know the feeling.

Well TREFF, amazing how one goddam game can pretty much ruin a whole week! Tillman throwing batting practice to the O's and your Bucks getting hot are killing me. Good luck this weekend (not like you're gonna need it).

Ehh, I dunno, many are still awfully close. Plenty of ball to be played!

Speaking of managers, what's up with Mattingly? Now Matt Kemp needs to practice his defense before he can have his full time job back? Somethin' funny goin' on over there...

First time I've gotten a real good look at Jesse Chavez... and no offense, but dude kind of looks like Gollum all cleaned up. So, from this day forward I shall claim him, My Precious.

Hey TREFF, can we just call it good now and I concede the 6.5 to 3.5 loss? Thinking that's about as good as it can get for me and I figure it could get a lot worse..............

Hey guys, I have 2 decent closers on my bench but since my pitching is so up and down I figure the only way to win any pitching cats is to punt saves...............so if anybody is interested in Paps and/or Grilli shoot me an offer.............

I would be very disgusted that I traded him, but Torii's been pretty useful. A few more HRs would be nice...
