Bonus points for teams based on season long point totals

After week 1 it is random. And the odds of actually getting eliminated in a 17 team league are low.

After week 4 or 5?

The best teams tend to have the most points.

So yeah, the bonus insulates the top teams from 1 bad week.

That absolutely removes randomness and it is good thing.

Players go thru hot and cold streaks all the time, you shouldn't be rewarded for starting a guy who goes cold just cause he started the season hot - see Adam Thielen last season for an example

First year no bonus, and a number of people were asking for it.
Second year, we had 2 different bonuses. One for high score of the week, that you kept the whole year. The second was a period bonus that you only keep for that period. The high score of the week bonus was not liked and removed.
Every year since then, we have had the period bonus. It does not count towards your overall score. What it was was 3 points for everyone left that had less points than you on the season. With 5 people left the bonus would be:
1st -12 points
2nd - 9 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 3 points
5th - no bonus

No, you should be rewarded for having a good team.

Maybe an alternative might be to introduce bonus points once byes start. After 4 weeks of games or so.

Then it really is the better teams at the top, not just someone who had a lucky week.

We are at 18 and waiting on @jwolt92 buddy. I set the draft for 24 hours per starting Sept 11th. Date might be off, but it was a Sunday.

Hm. Seems like you'd want to weight recent success, rather than that one week a month ago where Derrick Henry score 82 points on his own.

Maybe something like one point for every team you beat last week, half a point for every team you beat two weeks ago, and a quarter point for every team you beat three weeks ago. That way you have some protection against being eliminated by one outlier week in the middle of good ones, but nobody's really safe for long. And the protection would get thinner as things get whittled down, which IMO is as it should be.

If you have a bad week it's because you aren't a good enough team.
