Because he looked good in a glorified exhibition game? My guess is blowing the pick was not the expectation from above.
I should have done it in green font.......

Or the fact that his starters couldn't do to Buffalo's subs, what Denver did to KC??? Two TDs and three FGs against substitutes that were able to score one TD and three FGs against the starters? Says a lot about the quality of a team.

My guess is there was a " Gentleman's agreement" that the Pats would lose today. Then Mayo went rogue and decided not to go along with it. Then Kraft fired him.

It is a bit sad to see Mayo go out like this. He was a very good defensive player and coach, and was with the Pats many years. So, we fans do owe him some gratitude. Hope he does well and lands another job, maybe as defensive coach?

What a shit show this team has become. From consistent terrible drafts, lack of developing players, low grade on facility rankings, not using their cap $, bad coaching... What was that smug smile by Mayo after the win? Did he know he was gone?

Now Maye will likely need to learn a new system because whoever becomes the new HC won't be keeping AVP around. How far does this set him and the Pats back?

From #1 to #4 SMH, Idiots. From the Krafts down. I haven't been so pissed off in a very long time as when the final whistle blew after that game.

Well done Mayo and company. It was there for the tanking. No one would've/could've blamed them for taking a loss.

The only positive was Milton and that hurt. Why's he have to have such a good game for his 1st NFL start? I get it was against scrubs but come on man. I had never cheered so hard for a player to throw a pick 6 near the end of the game like I did near the end of this game. Milton showed he can play a pick 6 wouldn't have changed anyone's mind.

No mention of Covington after how bad the D regressed? Just a matter of time I'm guessing.
Yep,
It’s looking like they are cleaning house, and start rebuild from square one.

I was wondering about Milton. He showed he can play, but they play to win in these circumstances? This last game showcased what a stupid undisciplined team we have at the moment. We are looking at a complete rebuild, the last 5 years amounted to nothing.

Mkay. I don't even disagree with his firing if yall are getting vrabel. I'm just saying, firing a rookie coach who had a rookie QB starting after one year is kinda a raw deal.
He did nothing to improve this team. From week one to week eighteen this team did not improve. The stupid penalties all year long, he showed he is not ready. There is no loyalty in the NFL the franchise did what they felt was the best thing for the team

The only game film the Bill's defense watched last week was of Polk trying to catch a ball. Any pick six chance would have been ruined by what they learned. Ball would have bounced off their chest. The Bills were very happy letting the Pats screw that game up.

^^ this
a drop in performance with a new coach woulda been acceptable, but there was never improvement … in fact the play seemed to get worse … and the coaching decisions and penalties was directly on Mayo’s shoulders …
nice guy … lousy head coach

Teams rarely get a second chance to fix the mistake they made in HC hires

but the pats have it with Vrabel.

such a lucky af franchise

Well we all are assuming he will be the coach, he may be pissed he wasn't offered the job last year.

He never had a chance it sounds like

Seems like the succession plan was set in stone before he was fired
