That's wonderful.

The next Jeets isn't walking through that door anytime soon. And, as we have been told lo these many years, a good team needs a leader w/Intagibles to make it a great team.

Enjoy being an east coast Cubs for the next 50

All jokes and ribbing aside, can't be a pleasant sight for a Mets fan right before the season starts.

Frankly, I think a dose of reality would be good for Mets fans. I've seen quite a few on here talking about how awesome they're going to be in 2016. They had a great season in 2015, no doubt, but it was due in large part to playing in a historically weak division. Their regular opponents consisted of an underperforming Nats team, a pile of shit Marlins team, and two other teams that weren't even major league caliber.

I've seen Mets fans acting as if a playoff berth is a foregone conclusion. Should the Nats rebound, or one of the shitter teams take an unanticipated leap forward and provide any competition for the Mets, 2016 won't be the cakewalk 2015 was for the Mets.

You know betta living in this city.......We would never allow such a drought

Just treading water till these contracts expire by the end of 2017

just an added bonus if our crosstown rivals continue to fall short of sitting on the throne

I agree with 99% of what youre saying...Take it from a Yankee fan living in NYC, Mets fans have become what they despised in Yankee fans for most of their lives.....And thats without winning a title

And i agree the NL East is historically bad

Howevah, where i do dis-agree is i think it will be a cakewalk into the playoffs for them again this season....When they get there, id expect the Cubs and Giants specifically, to be a handful.....But as you said, the Braves and Phillies arent major league rosters......The Marlins just seem like that organization where something will always go wrong, not that they are good enough if nothing does.....And im not a believer at all in the Nationals, and think its plausible that they got worse than last season

Lost Zimmerman and Desmond, and are still fielding the washed up Werth and Zimmerman, a talented, but injury prone Rendon....Dont like the lineup, and dont like much on that staff behind Scherzer and Straus

The 2015 Mets might have been a +.500 team if they were in any of the five other divisions.

Oh no...did Commissioner Dude-Guy re-align the divisions again? :nervous:

You could be right. I'm certainly not expecting much competition out of the NL East for the Mets, but stranger things have happened.

If I were to choose, I'd probably take the Mets to take the NL East in 2016, but that's more based on their lack of competition than it is their talent level. The Marlins, Braves and Phillies combined for 285 losses last year, and a case could be made that they collectively over-performed. A division like that tends to make decent teams look a lot better than they are.

Oh I hear ya, ive been telling Pats fans for 15 years that much of their success is a result of an awful division for pretty much all of those 15 years

Chicago has to be the favorites for the Pennant...they were very unfortunate to get the Mets on an insane hot streak.

I agree w/ most of the criticisms, but w/ the pitching staff we have, all it takes is another hot streak once you get to the post-season. I'll take those odds again.

And maybe the offense won't be so putrid for four months this year. They spoiled a lot of great pitching performances.

It's what made the Tigers so overrated '11-'14. The AL Central was a walking shit show and 2011 was the only season they won it decidedly. 2013 and 2014, they barely eked by.
