I'd say trading for butt fumble is showing you are somewhat desperate.
I wonder how sanchises first 7 games compared to oz. (Here it is: 5 TD 12 INT 4-3 record) .

You're assuming Brock has hit his ceiling I don't think you can say that right now. Dirty is on his 3rd team.
I think ppl are trying hard to rationalize the QB situation which "right now maybe better tomorrow" is a dumpster fire.

Plus if you have 3 nicknames that's probably not good.

What I'm saying is:

1) Oz wasn't worth the money the Texans are paying him - in relation to the Bronco's salary cap.
2) Sanchez was a good buy - he stretches Siemian for competition as a vet - and provides experience as a back up.
3) Acquiring Sanchez is a means of waiting the 9ers and Kap out on compensation (the Browns offer a 3 - but it is almost a 2, but can't pay Kap with out a reduction in salary -while the Broncos offer a 3 which is almost a 4, but can work out a deal with Kap). High stakes poker, but the 9ers have to pay Kap - if he is on the roster by 4/1 - so the Broncos wait - because the 9er's best deal will come closer to 4/1.

Also Chris - don't discount Kubiak's history of making QBs better than they historically have been - Like John Elway - Jake Plummer - Sage Rosenfelds, Matt Schaub and Oz - among others.

btw, I think we need to relax a bit.

Sanchez is cleary Elway's backup plan right now if nothing else comes up.

Why not grab him for a 7th rounder? Least we put a QB with experience on the roster... I can't imagine this is going to be where Elway stops with upgrading at QB.

Agree. I'm sure Elway wasn't looking at Sanchez a month ago. He does bring at least a workable vet into the picture now that gives Denver a little stability till plan C can be figured out. ;)

Plan C? Dude, we're still on Plan A.1.a, Appendix 1-4, enclosure 3. Elway himself said there is no Plan B. Weren't you listening?

Wow go away for a few days and come back and many are in a panic. We are what 5 days into the new league year after winning a Super Bowl and some are already doom and gloom.

1) I saw one poster compared Sanchez's first 7 starts to Osweiler's...Very different situations. We are talking actual rookie in Sanchez his first year compared to a 4th year vet. Osweiler puts up those kind of numbers after 4 years no way he is signing an $18 million contract. I mean in Peyton Manning's first 7 games he threw 14 interceptions to start off his career. If some were GM's of this team when Manning was a rookie they would be ready to cut the guy and give up.

2) If you think Elway is done adding to the QB position and is satisfied with Sanchez as our guy then you really haven't been paying attention. My guess is either RGIII or Kaepernick are still added and we use a decent draft pick on a QB. That would give us essentially 4 guys competing at the start of training camp for the starting QB position. My guess is we can find one guy that can come in and at least be average in this system.

3) We are now 5 days! 5 Days!! into the NFL league year. Step away from the ledge! As we have seen in the past teams that spend huge in the first few days rarely have success in the season. Did you not read my stat of the week on how 532 players changed teams during FA last year and how only 4 made the Pro Bowl? The season is not won and lost in the first 5 days of FA.

Sanchez' 2014 season, his last real substantial playing time as starter:

- 8 Starts
- 2,418 passing yards
- 14 TDs
- 88.4 rating

Osweiler's 2015 season:

- 8 Starts
- 1,967 passing yards
- 10 TDs
- 86.4 rating

CD beat me to it with the comparison of Sanchez in his rookie year to Osweiler last year, and the fact that that is NOT a fair comparison ... A true rookie QB taking over a team is a lot different than a guy who has become acclimated to the film rooms, the travel, the practices with NFL caliber defenses, the gleaning of info from Peyton Manning for 4 years, etc - it is very very different ..

And I know the "on pace to" or "translates to" thing is very speculative and not an accurate gauge for the most part, but do we realize that Sanchez' numbers under Chip Kelly in 2014 had him on pace to throw for almost 5,000 yards ??

Plus that was with Chip Kelly a guy that had his offense figured out according to most. Not saying Sanchez is better than Osweiler by any means but I think some are overpanicking this whole losing Osweiler thing. Believe me I liked Osweiler and would have liked to have kept him but I was also struggling to see that this guy was going to be great for us. I don't want to pay top QB money for a guy that is just going to be average. We can't depend on having an all-time great defense every year with paying a QB like that. We need much more so if we are only going to get average production then why not just pay what an actual average QB should be making in this league?

Again I also don't think Elway is close to being done at the QB position. I expect 2 more moves for the position with 1 in the draft and 1 through FA.

then yes that is solid work ...I have seen People knock Oz ...but the weather was bad .. At the time he was playing he was not playing badly .. People pull the well he was rated 27th or what ever that was .. but the weather was the reason for the bad rating .

Oz would of been great here . to bad he did not see that . I still say in two years he will have failed miserably in Houston...Ryan Mallet part 2

The weather is not the only reason he had a bad rating. Not all of it is on him but he did plenty to not help himself. I'm thinking of the Raiders game where he had a wide open receiver with no one around them just standing in the end zone and he throws it 5 yards over his head. I'm thinking of all the deep balls that were not even close (had the 2nd worst deep ball accuracy in the entire league). I"m thinking of all the times where his first read wasn't open and he panicked and pulled the ball down trying to find a running lane and instead takes a huge sack. I'm thinking of the times he actually was outside the pocket and nobody was open and instead of throwing it away takes a huge hit and a sack pushing the offense back.

So while he showed some promise he also showed some major flaws in his game. Many of these things can be improved upon but the Broncos made the right choice even if he plays well to not commit that type of money to such an unproven player.

I know a LOT of Chiefs fans who wished we kept Osweiler (and overpaid him). Very knowledgable Chiefs fans.

Of course, they are also happy we took Sanchez, but that's a different story. Dirty could end up as camp fodder.

Anyway, 10 TDs in 7 games..... 4 of them were in the first half of the Steelers game. I'm not sure that's a big loss.

Broncos-Ryan Fitzpatrick had initial conversation, price more than Denver wants to spend at this time, and they could revisit talks later.
