Garver - going into the 2024 season riding the luxury of a 2-year guaranteed contract, he took last year off. This year is his walk year. He'll enter free agency at age 35 next year. If he wants to continue his career into 2026 with something other than an uncommitted minor league contract, he absolutely has to produce this year. I guess we will find out how motivated he is to do that.

Haniger - Advanced age resulting in reduced bat speed compiled with the long, arced swing = early career decline. He's done. I like the guy and I wish it wasn't true, but it is: he isn't going to get better. See Sexson, Richie.

Polanco - if he truly was compromised by injuries last year then we should see some improvement. But we need to be realistic in our expectations. He's been in MLB for most of the season, for 9 years and he only has two solid seasons, that were not compromised by injury.

Solano - Solano is Solano. He is not a three-outcome hitter. His final numbers here should not be off of his career norms but hitting around a slew of three-outcome hitters may affect the level of plate protection he gets. I mean, why throw him fastballs in the zone if the next two guys behind him are slow base runners and have a 40% chance of either striking out or walking?

Starting rotation - Don't want to jinx them, but, when compared to trends with the other 29 teams, we have been very fortunate injury-wise. I don't know how much longer that good fortune can hold out, but it should not be considered the norm. It's interesting that we don't see rotator cuff injuries much anymore but there has been an epidemic of Tommy John injuries. The Mariners have avoided them thus far, but, how long can that last?
