It is a funny listen. But I listened to another local podcast too that equated them. I’m not advocating for him or anything but listening to these guys equate the two makes me dislike saber metrics even more. Sure Arraez is a one trick pony but a hit is a hit and exit velo or barrel rate are irrelevent if the ball is an out
I thought I saw on Twitter earlier Rosenthal said it was down to those 3 and the Mariners…..though I still say he goes to the Dodgers and MLB can keep pretending baseball is in a good spot.
Ya I argued with one of the bloggers on twitter who wrote about Arraez being a one trick pony. I said the DH spot only needs the one trick. Would you rather have one of the Mitch's at DH or Arraez? Easy question in my mind.
I haven't seen one comment about M's still being in it. Actually the opposite. They are getting roasted everywhere for not even being able to secure a meeting.
Not saying the Mariners are in on him or anything but I thought I saw it earlier. Could be wrong. But I know Divish said it hasn’t been reported anywhere that they had a meeting but doesn’t mean they haven’t. He said Jerry was going to do the opposite of what he did with Ohtani.
But yeah Lyle (I think) was the sabermetrics nerd who I was alluding to earlier to said he likes Solano better than Arraez cause of wrc+ or fwar or whatever dumb invented stat. Much like how Jerry tried selling us that Rojas and Urias together was better than Chapman.
I hate those stats. I am a back of baseball card guy. Give me AVG, RBI's, and Runs and I will judge him all day long.
Don’t get me wrong I don’t dislike the Solano signing but he should be like the 4th or 5th move this offseason. But it seems so weird the only people they tried for were 37,38 and 40. For a guy who despises team chemistry and veteran leadership he sure emphasized it this offseason.
I’m not disputing the Toronto thing at all. I’m just saying they have offered what a couple billion the last few years and no one of note took it. Springer is the only one I can think of.
