Robles did well for a half season. That's it. That's all of it.

Before coming here he had 25 AB's with the Nats this year.

He has played exactly 1 full season in his 6 years in the bigs. That was 2019.

If he somehow can play a full season for the 2nd time in his career next year and put up similar numbers to what he did in 70 games here over the season, then great.

I'm dubious, but if he can keep up that plate discipline and achieve the incentives in his contract, then the $11.75 mill extension will be a tremendous bargain.

I think fans should be optimistic on him being able to replicate next season. My main thinking is he actually went through a really bad stretch then bounced back. Could be a dud but I feel there should be more optimism about Robles than Randy or Julio.

For clubs that give a fuck about winning, It would be a pretty good deal for Robles even if he doesn't maintain quite the level he did this season with us.

His "bad stretch" has been the majority of his career. The anomalies have been the good stretches. But yeah, if it were competent club, I'd have no complaints.

It just bothers me that it's a $5 million per year gamble, and ownership doesn't give a fuck about winning no matter how delusional any M's fan is. If the M's were a legit franchise that would eat the salary if Robles is a dud and re-spend as much or more to make the team better in the same season, I'd be a lot more optimistic.

No real disagreement. IMO I’d bet that Robles will be more like the player he was in Seattle than prior. He did make a significant swing change and it worked. I’m not going to pretend he is going to be a superstar, I was just mostly saying I have more confidence in him than Julio or Randy. Maybe that’s not saying a lot cause Julio hasn’t lived up to his potential and Randy is bipolar
