I think it was bungled, but my point is he had no choice. He works for the owners, more specifically the major market owners, and they told him to approve it. He had no choice. He may or may not have agreed with it, but he literally had no vote in it. His job was to rubber stamp it which he did.But he followed the usual mandate and now the A’s are going to play in a minor league park for the foreseeable future. Owners voted to let him leave Oakland but my prediction is the owners are going to force him to sell the team before the A’s play an inning in Vegas. We may disagree but I think he bungled Oakland and showed the days of commissioners bullying municipalities are over
Dipoto's only goal for this offseason was to give the impression that he was going to do something in the offseason to improve the team. He made sure all the talking heads kept the Mariner's name in various trade discussions. But he had no intention of trading anyone except players where he could win huge on the money exchange. I imagine he had some sold offers for Castillo, talent-wise, but the money did not line up to his liking or he wanted one of the Miserable Mitches and his contract thrown in too.
You mean, what could they do to satisfy Dipoto in a Castillo trade? Take on all of Castillo's contract, Haniger's contract, and Garver's contract.
May as well..just sell..the.team..You mean, what could they do to satisfy Dipoto in a Castillo trade? Take on all of Castillo's contract, Haniger's contract, and Garver's contract.
Owners are assholes. I laugh when I read national media talking heads how Alonso is in play along with other players.Yeah I really don't .know why .
Mariners...are drawing..a...blank..
Check...
But there are ways ...that just are not.
Happening.
.
So..it makes me suspicious...of
Wtf .....really..
I disagree on that being his mandate though. His job is to do what is in the interest of the owners. What happened because of him in Oakland is not in the owners interest at all. Manfred should’ve got the owners together and let them know Vegas is an expansion destination. Just my personal opinion is that Manfred’s handling of the Athletics is going to cost the owners cause owners have to fork money to Fisher cause they don’t have the big tv deal and are going to cost the owners money with the grievance of playing in a minor league park and finally it cost them money because Vegas should’ve been an expansion not relocation. It’s not like Manfred can use the threat of relocation to Oakland for which ever owner is next on wanting the public to fund the upgrades or a new stadiumI think it was bungled, but my point is he had no choice. You could be right on him not owning it in Vegas. The owners want what is best for their pocketbook and they may think a new owner is the case. The dude is an idiot.
Eh, bottom feeders is too far. But being stuck in the middle of the pack is worse. Not bad enough to justify trading your biggest trade pieces but too cheap to try to win a World Series.Dipoto's only goal for this offseason was to give the impression that he was going to do something in the offseason to improve the team. We are back in the 1977-1995 mode again. We are in the same place as the Pirates, Royals, Rays, Indians, As, Reds: perennial bottom feeders.

Like I said I could be totally wrong but I think the owners are going to regret Manfred’s whole handling of it.
Castillo.is..steal.a prime time..You mean, what could they do to satisfy Dipoto in a Castillo trade? Take on all of Castillo's contract, Haniger's contract, and Garver's contract.
