No surprise to see this. Has there been a more under achieving team in the AL the past few yrs. than Seattle?

This would be the correct answer if not for 2013. They sure attempt to make a compelling case anyways, however.
the 2013 sox are the first team to win a world series by total accident.

Cleveland probably. The problem isn't under achieving, it is that our drafting and/or developement has been piss poor. In reality, the bar is set so low for the Mariners, that it is difficult to under achieve.

Well, a lot of projections sites would disagree, but yeah Cleveland is another one who fell flat on their face this year.

The under achieved this year no doubt, previous years no. They over achieved probably more than under achieved

Mariners' prospect development has been terrible over the years. They've only had two significant position players come out of their farm system in the last, like, decade or so (Seager and Adam Jones). And one of them has had success elsewhere. The Ackley and Hultzen picks made sense, but Ackley's fizzled out after a pretty good rookie season. Hultzen's pitched 8 innings since the end of 2013 and turns 26 in the fall.

Glad he made those bad big money deals before he got the axe

I don't think the big money deals are what killed him. Yes, Cano is overpaid and having the worst year of his career but since they hired Edgar as the hitting coach he's been putting up all star numbers. Cruz has obviously earned his pay and resigning Felix was a no-brainer. It's the busted first rounders, horrible trade for Smoak, running prospects to the ground instead of sending them down like they should have been that killed him.
