Sportsnet.ca is reporting that Marc Savard has told bruins management he would be willing to waive his no-movement clause should they be able to work out a deal with either the Toronto Maple Leafs or Ottawa Senators.

Savard’s contract extension kicks in this season, which will see him make $4M a year for the next seven years.

With Boston using the second pick to select Tyler Seguin, they are pretty strong at center and would like to move a center out to make room for defense or wingers.

Boston would likely like Kaberle coming back for the deal to work out. Savard was Kessel’s center his last season in Boston, assisting on 22 of Kessel’s 36 goals. With Ottawa paying $7M for Spezza it is unlikely they try to bring in Savard, especially with Fisher as their No. 2.

The question though is with Savard’s recent concussion. Is it really worth the risk of having him locked up for seven years? Only time will tell.

I should of left out Ottawa and said according to HBK. :D

It looks as if Savard could go to Toronto to rejoin Kessel, but Kaberle isn't part of the deal apparently.

Well the Bruins traded Sobotka, so maybe they'll keep Savard now. Only time will tell.

Toronto Star reporting that Grabovski has been linked to a possible trade for Savard.

I would be shocked if it wasn't lottery, and surprised if it wasn't top 5.

I'll second this. Toronto is a whole lot of bad in not much space. And they'd better build up some room early in the season if they want in the playoffs. Their last twelve games are either against playoff teams or on the road, or both.

It would be so refreshing if one of these guys came out and said, "I want to go to Edmonton or Buffalo"

I'd love to have Savard on the Sens. I just think about how lethal a 1, 2 combo of Spezza and Savard would be. However, Murray has the chance to make this team a legitimate cup contender so chances are he's going to let it slip by.

i think it is funny how canadian sites do not even tell he wanted to be on 2 other teams. like tsn, they have good hockey coverage although they only talk about canadian teams.

Well We could get a 3 way trade going with buffalo, ottawa, and boston.

Buffalo Giving up Roy, Stafford, and a 2nd round next year
Ottawa is giving up Spezza, Cheechoo and a 2nd round pick next year
And Boston Giving up Savard and Boychuk

The way it would work would be

Boston would get Stafford, Cheechoo, and a second round pick from buffalo and ottawa
Buffalo would get Spezza and Boychuk
Ottawa would get Savard and Roy

This would take Savards long term contract off of Bostons books and give them a young wingman to use, also the 2 second round picks help with further developing the team down the road. Boston would take cheechoo to elimate him from Ottawa's payroll and could absorb the hit with removing Savard from the books, as a good note Cheechoo is only under contract 1 more year. Ottawa would receive two great centers, and buffalo would receive the star center its needed for some time and a little more help in the back end. I see this as a win win win for all 3 teams, as its cap friendly and addresses the needs of all 3 teams involved.

Damn, if the Flyers could in some way keep their current roster, get a good goalie, improve the 3rd pair and get this lil' bastard on the team all while staying under the cap I don't think we'd be too shabby.
