Somehow he left Jordan off his starting 5 but had MJ teammate Scottie Pippen on his starting 5.

Here is his starting 5:

Stockton
Oscar
Scottie Pippen
Lebron
Wilt

Appearing on "The Dan Patrick Show", Malone said he would take Wilt Chamberlain at center, former Jazz teammate John Stockton at point guard, LeBron James at power forward and Oscar Robertson at shooting guard.

Asked who would man the small forward position, Malone said: "I'm gonna shock the world. I have to put Scottie Pippen at the 3. Scottie Pippen led the [Bulls] in every statistical category when he was there without Jordan."

After the Bulls won three titles from 1991-93, Jordan walked away from the NBA for more than a season to pursue a baseball career. Pippen did star on some good Bulls teams, but Chicago went on to win three more crowns when Jordan returned.
Patrick responded that Malone must have a man crush on Pippen to take him over his more celebrated Chicago Bulls teammate.

"I have a man crush on LeBron James," Malone responded.

i'm totally taking a shot in the dark here, but maybe there's some kind of personality conflict involved...?

I was thinking the same....Or maybe he's still pissed that MJ took 2 rings away from him?

Malone later tweeted that DP was gushing over MJ the whole interview, so, in jest, he left MJ off his starting 5.

If team chemistry, dedication to the sport and off court issues are considered then MJ could easily be left off.

I would put russell at the 4 over LBJ I think, Maybe LBJ at 3 and pippen at the 2. Go super big I would also take Kareem over Wilt.

We would hold showtime to 50 points a game...esp since we have their starting center :D

Yes, those issues crippled his Bulls and Olympic teams

I think it is funnier that Malone took LeBron over himself at a position that LeBron isn't listed as playing.

It would have today with such a much more intrusive media element and the forever increasing sensitivity and political correctness.

I am not saying I would but there can be made a legitimate case for leaving him off.

Are we trying to win today, this game right here? Or are we trying to win for a decade?

Example of team chemistry being an issue, preseason every one is on the Lakers to do great with Kobe and D12 and Nash but they could never get their chemistry together.

Any list without Big O is a bad list. The man nearly averaged a triple double for his career. Plus he could play and guard 3 positions ( at least). The man was the original point forward and he did it better than anyone else has ever done it ( including Lebron)

I never got to see the Big O but what would he do against my lineup using 80's or 90's rules?

Problem I am having is finding 3p shooting. I guess LBJ can do that and O if had a week could have probably integrated a 3p shot into his game.

Staying Big

Big O
Pippen
LBJ
Russell (and team captain)
Kareem

I would take that for a decade all decade any decade.

Probably score at least 5-6 point per game more for sure and probably be an even better defender than he was since he could use his hands more to guard. There has NEVER been a guy that had a better 8 year run as a complete player at the start of their career than Big O. From the 60-61 season to the 67-68 season Big O averaged 30.5 ppg, 10.5 rebound per game and 9.8 assists per game. AVERAGED that!! He also shot 49% from the field and 85% at the line all while basically being double teamed every game all game because his team had no real other stars. The guy ( if he hadnt of gotten hurt at the end of 67-68 and never really returned to full form) would easily be the most complete player to ever play the game. Hell he already is IMO. Easily the most underrated player of all time. If he played today he'd be Michael and Magic in the same body.
