Has it been reported it was Peds? All I read was he violated the substance abuse policy which can also be recreational drugs or even certain supplements. He can still be good but he needs to stop taking whatever he is on.

Reading the official wording of the announcement, it looks like a suspension for recreational drugs. That would mean that this is his fourth "violation" if I remember the substance abuse process correctly.

Yes, it takes 3 or 4 substance abuse violations to get suspended. I haven't looked it up in a while & are too lazy to do so now.

Keep in mind, that if you are not in the drug program, you don't get tested in-season for MJ. Just a single test for MJ at the start of the new practice season, so like in May/June.

But a violation does not necessarily mean pissing hot. Basically, once you piss hot for recreational drugs, you are just fined & put in the drug program. Then you are tested frequently throughout the season & required to participate counseling sessions. Not taking a test, pissing hot, pissing watered down, or not participating in counseling are all considered violations. Second & third violations just increase the fine amounts, testing, & counseling.

I read he used Aderall in College. Mike Davis above seems to think it is recreational based on what he read.
