Could Luongo save Edmonton (Only the Lord saves more than Bernie Parent)

Spector on NHL: Would Luongo fit with Oilers? - sportsnet.ca

The Canucks would want Sam Gagner, whose father Dave works for the Canucks as their Director of Player Development. He could fill in as second line centre while Ryan Kesler healed up, and move down to the third line upon his return.

They would ask for more, but if I'm eating a decade-long contract, you don't get more.

OK then...discussion over.
and why, of all the young forwards in the Oilers organization (Gagner is only 23), would we seek out the one that only has a year left on his deal?

Botch: The team that makes most sense to me is Florida. They would have to trade Theodore before anything happens.

I think if they asked Dave ... he would even admit its a junk deal for the canucks

would make sense that we take Theodore back.
he's the veteran we need for a back-up, only has this year left on his deal.

just need him to sign off on it (NTC)

I think it was Lebrun this summer who said Theodores NTC is limited and has 10 teams he is ok with being traded to ... canucks arent one of those 10 teams

Botchfords story this morning spins it that the canucks are hoping for a goalie injury and that team would go get Theodore as opposed to Luongo and ... voila ... Luongo to the PANS

/good luck with that though

I think Florida is the team Gillis wants to make a deal with because they have the best prospect pool & Luongo wants to play their. However, goaltending isn't a problem for the Panthers.

And they're about as far away from VC as possible (so Luongo wont be beatin their asses regularly).

Doesnt the NHL still own the team? (deal aint done) ... I can see bettman wanting that Luongo contract ... not lol

injury aside ... on insider trading last night, dreger said Smith isnt signing a long term contract with the coyotes so they better start looking for a young goalie

They did take Visentin in the 1st round. I don't know how close he is to the NHL though.

As for Luongo, Phoenix is very deep on D both with the big club & in the minors. I doubt they'd trade Yandle for Luongo because Maloney has apparently said they would only trade him for a top 2 Center/Forward. If the money matches they can make a trade with anyone. Plus teams can keep the contract & trade the player now. Toronto is paying a portion of Lombardi's contract.

I'm thinking nothing happens this year. Having two number ones is huge with all the back to backs.

I think Gillis' asking price is still way too high and Bobby Lou will stay in town until he either a) lowers it or b) feels he needs to make a move to help the team.

The other sticking point is that Vancouver needs a goalie in return for a deal to be made and there aren't that many goalies currently available.

Just one of many reasons I love Louie Lams. He gives nothing to the media.
