To be fair, 29 out of 30 teams don't have their own thread on the main page.
huh. i see one for the Flames, Oilers, Leafs and even Buffalo.
though to be fair, that one is mostly about sex offenders.

Leafs don't have their own thread, so this will do peripherally

From the article:
The Rangers, you’ll recall, gave up blueline prospect Tim Erixon and a first-round pick as part of a package to get forward Rick Nash.
Just because Scott Howson is a moron doesn't negate the fact that the Leafs need to upgrade the goaltending position.
The Leafs need a lot of things. I didn't read the whole article but I tend to agree with its general premise that it makes no sense for the Leafs to spend what few prospects they have and the cap space on Luongo at this point. In fact I'm not sure it would be wise for them to give the Canucks a loonie to pick up Luongo and his contract. Same can probably said for just about any expensive player that is 32+. That's why I think and hope that the Leafs do trade for Luongo.
His contract really isn't that bad. He's got a low cap hit for a starting goalie.
It isn't bad for a team that actually has a chance of winning sometime while he's still at or near his prime. I don't see that happening with the Leafs. If he was a UFA, I'd consider it a somewhat understandable move. To give up draft picks and prospects when you barely have any to give is the type of move that is the reason why the Leafs haven't made the playoffs in over 2 lockouts.
For the Leafs, just getting into the playoffs is a huge win.
And I think Luongo can do that for the current team.
I read some fancy stats this week where Luongo's positional WAR was 11 points or so.
That puts the Leafs in with room to spare.
Reimer's answer Scrivens' combined was something like 0.6
I believe if they (Toronto) can (get) Luongo, that will make it far easier to lure prospective free agents to Toronto. This would be my master plan if I were Dave Nonis: Trade for Luongo now, get my salary-cap in order and then make a big big pitch to land both Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf next summer.

Luongo a drawing card for UFA's? LOL
He's no Giguere.
