Your first job isn't being the CEO of Microsoft or IBM.

It's being a Manager at McDonalds.

I love Luke but the guy even blew a timeout when they weren't ready for a two point conversion in the 4th quarter. It was an easy decision to go for two and it could have cost us if we didn't have that extra TO at the end of the game.

Luke's got potential. Maybe it 10 years when he's done coaching Akron or Kent.

Doesnt even compare to the wasted TOs Withers has used/caused. He called one at the end of the 3rd quarter against Miami in a game we needed as many TOs as possible to come from behind. There quarter would have run out before the play clock to if he wouldnt have used the timeout. And he used 2 coaches challenges this year! Which is the absolute biggest waste because if the booth will review it (that or someone in the booth should be fired immediately).

Fickell definitely got rushed into being a HC. perhaps they could move him back to assistant coach and he can further his coaching education from one the big dawgs like an Urban Meyer, etc

although if this happens, a few smaller schools such as in the MAC would likely offer Fickell a HC spot

No chance Fickell goes back to being a coordinator.

Sucks, because I want him on the team.

He chills at Kent or Akron(or even higher up) and then comes back to Alma Mater in a decade.

We need a big recruiter. Can't start losing guys to m1ch1g@n.

You guys are morons.

We're talking about THEE Ohio State University coaching job here. This is NOT a job you give to the Luke Fickells of the world.

If you're dumb enough to support hiring this guy, you're dumb enough to be happy with the results you won't be getting.

This is a job you give to a PROVEN winner with a pedigree, not a first time gig.

Anybody that resorts to name calling doesn't know what he is talking about. Joe Paterno's one and only head coaching job is Penn St. He is the winnest coach alive. So what would prevent Fickell from doing the same?

You need to do your homework before going around blowing your mouth off.

LMAO. You fail.

I suggest you do YOUR homework on Penn St. Try to actually compare them to tOSU today, and then you'll understand how much of a fail your post was.

tOSU is the first or second largest school in the nation, second highest revenue producing program in the nation. Penn St has never been either of those things.

You don't hand the keys to a program of that ilk to a first time coach.

Seriously, if you think this is a good idea, I have some beachfront property in Nevada to sell you.

You say nothing substantive.......just alot of hot air. I might as well be discussng this with a box of rocks as you.

Do you comprhend that Joe Pa is winniest coach alive and started at Penn St without any Head Coaching experience?

Do YOU comprehend there are NO parallels between Penn St in the 60s and tOSU now???

Do YOU comprehend Penn St has never been the largest university in the nation, generated the most revenue, or have access to the talent pool tOSU does?

Do YOU understand you have no valid point???

You show me ONE program the caliber of tOSU's program that's hired a HC that's never been a HC before......it just doesn't happen. WHY? Because there's too much money at stake to hire a guy that's in over his head over someone that knows what they are doing - someone that knows how to handle the press, the pressure of the job, the recruiting, and the boosters.

Like I said - only a moron thinks Fickell should keep this job. That would be YOU.

Bob Stoops

But I agree. Fickell is not the man for the job.

Fickell probably shouldn't have the head coaching job at the moment, the team lacked emotion and leadership before the older players came back from suspensions, it's not a coincidence that they played much better with those players in there, and once the offense got one of it's senior leaders in Herron back Ohio State has actually starting playing good.

at the moment it's more the older players leading this team than Fickell himself.

Fickell though should be Ohio State's defensive coordinator, if he doesn't get a job at Akron or someone like that.

this!! man I hope he stays, but it is likely a smaller school will pick him up as HC

I think Fickell fits the position well. Had Ohio State had Pryor and other players this season, this conversation may be more along the lines of "is Fickell potentially coach of the year?"

He is doing alright with a Freshman QB. When you can bounce back from a big letdown like they had at Nebraska and then beat back-to-back ranked opponents, that is impressive.

As you can see in the SportsHoopla top 25 voting, I have Ohio State at #23 after this week. I believe the Buckeyes will be in the BIG Championship game with hard fought wins over Penn State and Michigan.

I would like to think so but I think Illinois had to beat Penn State to have a shot, although I am frequently wrong :bounce:

well said except Tressel would likely be coaching if the tat5 would've been eligible from the get-go. I think Fickell has enormous potential, unfortunately we are short-sided by nature... recruiting not looking so good at the moment

All Ohio State has to do is take care of business the rest of the way out. You have the defense to do it, and Braxton Miller is really coming into his own now. I don't see Penn State winning 2 out of their last 3 playing Nebraska, Ohio State, and Wisconsin.

Win out, and Ohio State is in.

We just need some Husker or Badger help.

We will get it.

But we have to take care of our own shit. Their wins over PSU mean nothing if we can't beat m1ch1g@n

I think Ohio State's going to the Big 10 championship game

they just have to beat Penn State

Penn State will then lose another game too

Michigan won't be a problem because Denard Robinson sucks and will throw some picks to help the Ohio State offense which really won't have much trouble moving the ball against Michigan because Michigan does have problems stopping mobile QBs.

More facts for the misinformed......according to Ohio State insiders several assistant coaches like Fickell were doing all the work behind the scenes that Tressel was given credit. Tressel was merely a figure head. Fickell was an assistant coach at Ohio State for 9 years involved behind the scenes and given little, if no credit at all. He did alot of hard work and deserves the position of interim head coach. He was a former player and defensive standout for the Ohio State. As far as calling him a coordinator, that is a misconception of the role he has actually played at OSU. His role was much greater.

You are nothing more than a blowhard, who knows little if anything about Ohio State football. You would be wise in the future to keep your incompetent mouth shut.
