Now seriously, how about you do the following:

List the "ludicrous" signings.

Research the AAV
Research the GTD
Research the distribution of money; when is the first year you could realistically cut a player?
Compare AAV as a % of the cap

And compare all of that with what you think is a fair comparison, and then we got a thread. How about it.

Is Moose still winning?

I am as big a Mike Moustakas truther as there exists. A true homer there. So yes :)

haha I am sure you and that negrita @black francis got along then.

I meant are you still kicking dicks in putting people into perspective about contracts?

The same thing happened with the NBA contracts. Lowly m effers like us complaining about average players getting paid bookoo dollars when the reality of the situation is salary cap is going up and owners are being forced to distribute more of their wealth.

One of the last few fine examples and execution of a Union.

The AAV stands for Average Annual Value

The second is Guaranteed.

So what does the contract average out to every year and how much of it is guaranteed. We see some of these deals that have a huge overall number. Well some teams just put huge numbers at the end of the contract to fluff it up and make it look nice to the player. They can say they signed for $100 million. In reality they maybe only signed for $55 million with the final 2 years being completely cutable.

And that is where the guaranteed comes into play and remember not all guaranteed money is actually guaranteed. An agent will try to show all the different kinds of money that is guaranteed but big chunks of it could just be against injury only and won't be attainable to the player unless they have a serious injury.

Exactly. The player has their eyes on right now and the team has their eyes in 3-5 year increments.

I'm starting to look at which deals AREN'T ludicrous.

Giving a full back 10.5 million in guarantees is beyond ludicrous. They've definitely went plaid on that one.
LOL...first thing i thought of when I saw this theread was :

so I cracked up at the plaid comment

The Eagles also got Smith? Damn. They are going all in.

Guess they got tired of people laughing about their receiving core. Agholor should probably start getting his home ready for open houses. I think he might be selling it soon.

$8 mil aav for a 40-50 reception guy does seem like an overpay. But with the NFL swimming in cash, it's not that big of an overpay.

Also, great or very good players rarely make it to the open market. When they do, it's usually due to age or injury history. That leaves most of the market to above average or good players. And they always are getting overpaid by desperate teams.
