I don't know Shanny, I fear it could be open season on wandering goalies now...
but that's not the rule as it stands now.
that has been very clearly stated in the thread.
maybe only Thomas.
fwiw, I agree with no suspension.
its a minor or a major as written in the rules. he was assessed a penalty.
he SHOULD have gotten an ass-whooping as well, but that's on Buffalo.
I didn't see the game, but have seen the replay and read up on it.
To me this (the bold part) is the most disturbing part of the whole thing.
I'm the collision could have been avoided or at least not as severe, but someone at sometime during that game should have challenged Lucic.
The was the 1st meeting of the season, 5 to go.
I hope they make a rule change so everybody is happy when there are 3rd string goalies playing all over the league. It won't matter to me, Everybody will then have a goalie as shitty as our "Star of the week" goalie...![]()
Yeah, I'm surprised so many people are in support of this open season thing. Goalies have a different role than skaters.
The problem is that as soon as you change the rule to allow contact outside the crease, people will push the boundary. What happens when the goalie comes out to challenge a shot (out of his crease), and lets up a rebound. Can you smoke him? Is that finishing your check? It would be fucking hell to write the rules that govern this, and nobody would understand them anyway.
It has nothing to do with NHL pussyfication. Sometimes you make something illegal because it would be too complicated to regulate otherwise. This is one of those cases.
You are most certainly correct. Stay in your crease.
Get 'em Cherry.....
I wonder if the Bruins will play Thomas or Rask on Nov 23?
either way, I really do want to see this play out to its logical conclusion:
Patrick Kaleta absolutely atomizing the goalie on the first shift of the game. No apologies, and the rule clearly states in or out of the crease, so run him right through the fucking net if you have to. take your two minutes, and move on.
the shift after that, put the next goalie onto IR too.

yep nothing wrong with that. then the bruins can go to their 3rd string and Jeff will be happy noone pussied out
