Notre Dame/Michigan being portrayed as a "long time rivalry" by ESPN is a shovel full of FRAUD for the ignorant.
They've only met 35 times total, and the current annual streak is only at 12 games.
They only played 4 times between 1899 and 1942. (4 times in 43 years)
They only played 2 times between 1943 and 1978. (2 times in 35 years)
It has never been a true year in and year out rivalry with other breaks coming in 1983/1984, 1995/1996, and 2000/2001.
Those numbers wouldn't put that series in the top 40 of college footballs all-time rivalries.
It's completely manufactured.
