It starts this year, 7 years $126 mil which is $18 mil per year, he is worth it too. Cutler and Romo got about the same $ and he is better then both. Love it, 7 years of a stud QB
Wow. I hate this move with a passion. The 49ers are capable of winning this year with middle ground QB play, I was hoping we'd continue to go on that route. Please I really want Kaep is traded in 2 seasons
The deal is pretty close to what people expected and pretty much par for the course at what franchise QB money is these days.
I mean it was completely unrealistic we would've signed him for less as if we didn't pay him another team would've likely next year.
I like the deal. It's about what we thought was going to happen. He's young and only getting better. I agree with schefter tweet below as well. We got ours in first.
Colin Kaepernick deal will impact potential deals for Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Alex Smith this year; Luck, RGIII, Russell Wilson next year.

I called 18 million and I was right. Im a Kap fan and feel this is a little much for a QB doesn't hasn't won a super bowl. I do feel he is one of the best in the league but I was hoping for 16 million a year because he did say he would be a team player but I guess the agent won here.

How do you figure?
""San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has always wanted to be thought of as one of the league’s best quarterbacks, and now, he’s going to be paid like one. According to multiple media reports, the 49ers and Kaepernick have agreed to terms on a multiyear contract extension that will tie him to the franchise through 2020. It’s a six-year extension, averaging over $21 million per year ($126 million total), and with $61 million guaranteed — the highest guaranteed money ever for any NFL player.""
I don't understand this. Here is a guy who has completely melted down at the end of the two biggest games in which he has played and they act like he is the second coming of Joe Montana.
