I had the most fun with Battlefield games, big battles and destructible environments. I know these guys who sink hours into League of Legends it's free. The learning curve is big though and not fun until you can play ranked (lvl 30).

Age of Empires are classics II being my favorite. Don't really game much except occasionally ps4 so Idk the newer games but hope that helps.

My son is rather big into PC games and plays something called "Gary's Mod" like crazy. I don't know what exactly it entails but he seems to really enjoy it. May be worth checking out. :noidea:

I've been getting my money's worth out of Skyrim and it's pretty cheap at MalWart. Classic hack n slash dungeon type game with an open world where you can pretty much do what you want.

RPG
Story Driven:
Mass Effect Series (2 is supposedly the best, you can always just read the first storyline online).
Dragon Age: Origins/Inquisition
Dark Souls 1 (if you enjoy difficult games/repetition, wasn't for me but rated as one of the tops).
Baldur's Gate 1/2 Enhanced Edition
Witcher 2 (bit more difficult, sort of DS - you'll invest time in learning the mechanics).

Open World:

Skyrim
GTA 5 (Apr 15 release)

MMO (ranked in order of best-worst IMO)
World of Warcraft
FF 14 Re-born
LOTR: Online (free)
Star Wars Old Republic (free)

RTS/MOBA

Starcraft 2
Age of Emps HD edition
Rome 2 Total War
League of Legends (free) - non base building
really not familiar with this genre, don't care for it much anymore

Simulators

F1 2013
ARMA 3
CS: GO (FPS)
Cities: Skyline is the most popular now but that's like SimCity to me

To me if you haven't played:

Dragon Age
Mass Effect
Skyrim
WOW

You should get on that. Dark Souls I would also say you need to get on that but heavily research if that's your thing. It's hard in that it requires memorization since you'll die often until you memorize bosses and certain fights. You also need to spend a significant amount of time learning the game/movement mechanics. To me the movement felt clunky but that's just because I'm used to the non-realistic movement in a lot of other games. Dark Souls feels the most realistic, it's just hard to untrain yourself. It's only $20 and often goes on sale for $10 or less so not bad. Also, work of caution, you will need to spend time figuring out controls/graphics settings. If you buy I can walk you through, but it's tedious. All the other 4 can just be inserted and played.

Nice list.

I would say X-COM Enemy Unknown is a great game. Game of the year great. Also the add-on.
It's actually turn-based combat but very well done.

I've been playing Rome Total War II for a while now... Turn-based Campaign, real-time battles. If you want to pretend you are Rome and Julius Caesar or Macedon and Alexander the Great, (plus 20 other countries of the period) this is the game.

-Dragon Age series - They are a blast. They are not too complicated from the start & just long enough that you feel satisfied when you finish the game.

-Skyrim - If you like open ended free roaming games that could last 100s of hours, this the game for you. Add in all the different types of mods & DLC, the game is a lot of fun. I have played through 3 characters in that game.
