Got a 1972 .357 nickel N-frame with a 6-1/2" barrel about 2 months ago. Going to shoot it pretty soon.

Make my day Hillary

Looking to buy a 357. Just love the gun and I want a revolver. Like most things in this current world we live in, the older ones were better. By older I mean pre-1995. I was told this by a trusted gunsmith. Parts are better, not cheap or plastic parts.

I found a 357 19-5 but I really was looking for stainless or nickel. Just curious as to what some of you think about 357s. View attachment 12831
Nice choice.

I have a 1980s Marlin .30-30 lever that I love to shoot. Never seen a .357 lever rifle that'd be interesting

I just looked it up, its a model 28(N frame) It was produced from 1954-1986. The model 686 started in 1980. They look a lot alike.

I have the SW model 629 Classic in .44 Magnum and that has an N frame. I also have the Big .500 magnum with the massive X frame!

The current model 686 .357 mag has the newer L frame. Not sure exactly what the difference between the L vs N?

The S&W 686 were built to compete with the Colt Pythons for comp shooting. I really like the S&W 27's and 28's. But my favorite S&W K-22. I just have a blast shooting those rim fires.

Kicked like a SOB?
Yeah, no fun to shoot. I'd have a bruise between my thumb and forefinger for a couple days from just putting 10 rounds through it. I just kept it for a while as a nightstand gun loaded with .38. wouldn't mind getting a 4-6 inch at some point though.

One of my biggest regrets is selling my weapons. Had a S & W .357 revolver, stainless 6", police issue. Had S. A. PD engraved in the trigger guard. Other regret was selling my Savage .300 Model 99 rifle. I still find myself looking for another .357 w/ long barrel. Mostly finding snub-noses.

Very underrated rifles. I have 6.
