Who wants to record a copy of the game for me? I'll be searching the net for pirate broadcasts, but they usually suck.
-Chris Whaley go the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against OU.
Whaley had four tackles and dropped into coverage on a zone blitz to intercept a pass and return it 31 yards for a touchdown in Texas’ 36-20 win over Oklahoma. His first-quarter score put the Longhorns up 10-3, a lead they it never relinquished. Whaley and the Longhorn defense held OU to 130 rushing yards, 133 passing yards, 263 total yards and just one offensive TD – numbers significantly lower than the Sooners’ averages.
Myck Kybongo has been waived by the Spurs. He had signed a free agent contract and is expected to play for the Austin dLeague team.
Why do we keep having our bball players leave way too early, only to watch them struggle to even make a squad in the pros or not even get drafted?
They can make an excessive amount of money with a contract. Cory Joseph will make $1.1 million in 2013-14, $2 mil in '14 and $3 mil in 2015-16.
Kybongo rolled the dice and lost. The max salary for D League is ~$25k.
Sure but they've got to see what they are leaving on the table from past players experience. I mean most of these guys are barely even getting drafted - or not at all. Stay another year, get a late 1st or early 2nd round pick, increase your odds or even getting drafted, get a much bigger contract, and finish a free education.
If they were leaving early and were projected top 15 picks, I would understand. But to leave all that on the table just so you MAY get drafted and MAY make a league minimum contract?
Kybongo is the only Longhorn that I remember who didn't get drafted. If he were willing to go overseas, he could easily make 250-500k/year.
