Lot's and lot's of hits on articles. Essentially, anything that links the Pats to cheating will sell more ads. And it gives writers more crap to write about.
The NFL should hurry up and come to a conclusion on this but they won't.

right..they are going to let this story hang out there for the week then do whatever they are going to do heading into SB week.

That this started because of the Colts tells you how much bullshit this is. What a sleazy organization from the owner on down. The fact they play teams in their division twice and none of them had a problem with deflated balls speaks volumes of the Colts nonsense. Don't be chucking your head into the microwave yet..at least wait until the SB is over. :L

I really hope this motivates the Pats to go and destroy Seattle.

Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained the process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials inspect 12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper requirements and are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant.

Eric Mangini posed as the ball attendant and is continuing to extract revenge on the Pats.

I'll take things the N.E. Patriots have done for 1,000 Alex!

LOL.

9 AFCCG's. 6 SB appearances. Most post season wins by coach and QB. Most post season TD's by a QB.

I'm distressed that 11 of 12 footballs were underinflated by 2 lbs. That's pretty sizeable, so why didn't the refs catch that earlier? When was it done and by whom? I guess we'll find out soon enough, hopefully.

11 of 12 footballs were underinflated, ONE football by nearly 2 lbs. I would like to see the readings for each ball. I think I read that the balls must be between 12.5 - 13.5 lbs.

I've been trying to read as much as I can from NON SPORTS sites. So far, everything I've read from aerospace technology to tire inflation safety has basically said the same thing.........any object that requires inflation will perform less than adequate if underinflated. Aerodynamically, an underinflated football will not travel as far, will have more wobble, will have more drag, and gravity will have a much greater effect. Without question, an underinflated football will not do as well as a properly inflated football.

Troy Brown had a very interesting comment on Sport Tonight. He said that quarterbacks have been allowed by the league to alter footballs without impunity for at least the past 25 years. They use sandpaper and scrubbers to make the balls as grippable as the like....not as anyone else likes. Some quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers like tha ball inflated to 15 psi which is 1-1/2 psi over the league rule because he has a large hand and it makes his distance and accuracy better. Brown said that quarterbacks have used sticky products and have smoothed the laces during the entire time he's played football.

He had a great suggestion. The league should no longer allow the teams to provide footballs. The league should contract with the preferred manufacturer (Wilson) to make the NFL Football to a specific standard. There should be a specific surface and the balls should be pressurized at the factory under very specific condition. They can do it so that the balls will change little in Miami heat or Green Bay cold. Once the manufacturing and pressurization is complete, the balls should be packaged in a special box with only on opening and special seal should be placed on the opening. If the seal is disturbed, the seal will discolor and the ball can be removed before it's delivered. Then he said a league official should be at each stadium and that official will remove the balls from the packaging and give the balls to the game officials just before kickoff. The ball attendants should be league employees, not team employees.

In all honesty, I'd rather wait to hear from the NFL and not Chris Mortensen

Every team has a ball attendant. These guys know the quarterback's preference. I would assume (possibly incorrect) that these guys do whatever the quarterback likes to have done to the balls. He takes the glass off, rubs the balls down with grip and puts air in or takes air out.

The Pats ball attendant may be one of those guys that just guesses and figured that no one gives a shit, stuck an inflation needle in every ball and didn't bother to really check the softness.

Most teams would never say anything about a ball to the league. Every QB doctors a ball to his preference and by doing what the Colts have done, they just screwed every QB (including their own) in the NFL. The Patriots have been in the bright lights since spygate and 95% of football fans hate them for their success. Harbaugh cried about formations and not getting enough time to change his defense. Now the Colts are complaining about underinflated footballs. The first thing out of the leagues mouth is "INTEGRITY". As one commentator said last night, with Spygate there was physical evidence of wrongdoing because the league has the tapes. The league may have underinflated footballs, but how do you PROVE that anyone did anything to the balls? Maybe the officials didn't do their job. Maybe the ball attendant overdid his job. Did anyone catch Bardy on a cell phone removing air from a ball?

If this is true, and everything we here about Brady overprepparing for everything, I'm not sold (yet) Why not practice with overinflated balls so come game time 12.5 psi feels soft???
