When asked who he thought was going to take him he said Detroit. Sounds rather odd. There was no explanation as to why other than the visits he has had.

Gawd, I sure hope not. Would have been OK if we had committed Pettigrew's money to a real FA defender, but not now.

What if they trade Pettigrew for another pick? Could make it interesting.

Ebron would pair quite well with Pettigrew, and Pettigrew's team-friendly contract would make such a pick financially feasible.

However, does anyone (anyone at all?) really want to see us draft a TE at #10?

I wouldn't be crushed or anything- Ebron does look the part of a future star at his position- but with guys like Aaron Donald, Justin Gilbert, Mike Evans, Anthony Barr, Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix, etc. available and the needs we have at all of those spots I don't think you'll find more than a handful of Lions fans who think Ebron is the right pick...

Of course they like Ebron in that style of offense. We have discussed this already.

Im prepared to accept Ebron in the first. Better than a receiver. Not as good as a couple other spots. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.

Wait What? Are you actually suggesting that the "N" word will come into play when drafting. :omg:

I do not think he is worth taking as a top 10 either but, What if we traded back with Miami to 19 (and got an extra pick or 2) and took him at 19? There is always a chance he slips to 19 in such a deep WR draft plus there is another good TE that could possibly go before him.

I just think there are other possibilities than just taking him straight up at 10

You think we will trade up and make sure we get him?

This is pretty much one of two scenarios I hate at the number ten spot that are pretty likely. I definitely to not want us to take a tackle, and I don't want us to take Ebron. I could be wrong, but a TE that's fast, but not crazy fast. Who is big, but not crazy big. Then throw in extremely inconsistent hands, and you have yourself I guy I don't want in the top half of the first round.

I haven't actually watched enough people play to know what I really want at ten, but I would be happy with Dix, Evans, Barr, or some guy I've never seen play.

Still wouldn't want him at 19. Rather have an elite athlete such as Brandin Cooks or Ryan Shazier or hard hitting enforcer such as Calvin Pryor, Dennard, Aaron Donald, Beckham, Zack Martin, Taylor Lewan. Any of those guys over Ebron. Ebron is a 25-40 kind of guy to me. The only type of TE you take in the top 10 is a Vernon Davis type who ran the 40 in 4.38.

Ebron would be the best TE on the team.

Depends on the offense you run. Take Jimmy Graham off of NO and they would be dead in the water. The few times they played without him were not pretty.

I agree though that Ebron does not look exceptional. He looks like he would be good but not great. Someone else posted he is like top 3 in almost every category but not 1 in any. That worries me. Still, at 19 I would be more comfortable then 10. Especially with at least 1 additional pick in hand.

This is true, but he's too small to not be running a "Vernon Davis" type 40 time, as Thndr pointed out. That's my opinion, anyways. If a TE is going to be on the smaller side he needs to be blazing fast to make up for it. If he's going to run an average time, I want him to be 6'6" or taller to help offset that time.

I like Ebron, and his overall package of bulk, speed, and athleticism is quite good, but I agree that I don't see a top-15 pick there...

There's clips of him out running teams down the sideline and in the middle of the field. Maybe 10 would be too high, maybe not considering that he would be better than the TEs on the team, every WR outside of Tate and CJ and would be a problem for teams to cover.

He would be a huge addition to the passing game. To me, the question whether or not to draft him would be; Is he a game changer and how much of an immediate impact can he have?

We must always keep in mind also that these prospects are bodies of work. Each guy needs some type of development and growth. They get stronger and become better athletes. Ebron seems like one with a high ceiling, imo. He's very "beast-like" and athletic.

It would be hard to imagine, with the Wr depth in this draft and lack of Safety/CB depth, Detroit not picking on the Defensive Back side of the ball with the first pick, then moving towards Wr later. But that's my opinion.
