I have heard nothing on Taylor Deckers 5th year option either. Eerily quiet. You could be right. I have also seen some mocks where Quinnen Williams falls to us. That would be a no brainer. Best pro ready player in the draft IMO.
BQ usually waits until the final week before he picks up the 5th year option. The due date this year is May 7th. I just read the following link today.
Lions haven’t decided whether to pick up Taylor Decker’s fifth-year option
PHOENIX -- The Detroit Lions still haven’t decided what to do with left tackle Taylor Decker.
The former first-round pick is headed into the final year of his rookie deal, but the Lions have a team-held option for 2020. And with five week left until the deadline to pick it up, they still haven’t figured out whether to pick it up.
“That’s something we have to decide upon I think about a week after the draft,” general manager Bob Quinn said. “That’s about a May 7 deadline, so no decision yet.”
Quinn’s decision to wait out the deadline should not be interpreted as indecisiveness. He’s handled fifth-year options the same way throughout his tenure in Detroit, waiting until the final week to pick it up with both Ezekiel Ansah and Eric Ebron. The only first-round pick who hasn’t gotten the fifth year under Quinn is Laken Tomlinson, who was traded to San Francisco before Quinn had to make that decision.
