I would definitely like to see either Devin White or Josh Allen in a Lions uni. Wouldn't be upset with a DB either.

That is also interesting. If we hit on a CB like the Browns hit on Denzel Ward last year. Better coverage also leads to more sacks indirectly. Chicken or egg scenario.

Only downside is "hopefully" we aren't picking this high again and it seems like good corners you can find later in the draft but to get talented edge rushers. You usually need to be pick them very high.

Not sure the truth behind it but I read somewhere that Devin White was being comped to Ray Lewis. If that is the case, it's a no-brainer selection at #8.

Yeah, not sure either will make it to us but if Devin White is there I'd snatch him up

If anyone watches games being played today please keep your eyed peeled for NC State WLB Germaine Pratt tonight playing in the Gator Bowl versus aTm at 6:30 p.m. CST.

Pratt is 6"3 245 lbs., a former FS 2 years ago who was moved to LB last year. He has very good read-diagnose skills, sifts through the trash, has great sideline to sideline speed, is a plus in coverage, is very good at run defending, reading eyes of qb, rb, te's. He'll make mistakes like any player does but doesn't have many missed tackles like J. Davis did in CFB.

I think he's a top 50 prospect and shouldn't last much after that. Allegedly he's been timed at sub 4.60 forty. You can clearly see his speed on the field but not sure with my eyes if it's sub 4.6

I like Pratt as a 2nd round prospect for us.

I'm also interested in seeing Michigan State DE Willekes. He's just a JR so not sure if he comes out this year or not but he's similar to UM Winovich with just as good of a motor and better flexibility and bend than Winovich displays, imo. He's capable of dropping into coverage on rare occasions with decent redirect and change of direction to seal the edge or some minor zone coverage even though it's limited times I've witnessed watching. He should be a day 3 pick should he come out.

I'm interested in seeing Okie State DE Brailford also. He too is a JR but seems to be right along in the Winovich and Willekes mold.

Okie State plays today at 2:45 CST versus Missouri.

BTW, Winovich has no business being mentioned as drafted prior to 3rd round comp picks, imo.

He has limited flexibility and agility outside of being a linear or run the arc pass rush specialist who can seal the edge pretty good but don't expect him to be able to be good at flipping his hips and change direction when coming up against speedy or shifty RB's.

Also on my list in tomorrows games are Kentucky CB's Lonnie Johnson and Derrick Baity.

Johnson is 6'2 200+ and Baity is 6'2 195-200. The latter could play CB but should be moved to FS, imo.

Baity is a SR and I think Johnson is a JR.

other CB's I'm interested in are Vandy's JoeJuan Williams 6'3 205 who is a JR and is rumored to possibly come out for the draft. This kid has a very good skillset and held his own versus Norte Dame, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi wideouts.

I like Virginia's Bryce Hall also. 6'1 200+ who should be in the 50-70 range.

Chase Hansen is one I like. Both because I am a homer, and they moved that guy all over the field in his 4 years and he was good at all of em. Dont mind a late round flyer on a versatile player that can fill in a few spots.

What do you think about Devin Bush of Michigan? Not to sound homer on picking him that high but every time I saw Michigan play. He was always making big plays.

Really liked what I saw from him in limited time. I see him starting out as a nickel LB similar to what Shaq Thompson and Deonne Bucannon did for Carolina and Arizona.

He has the body type of a George Illoka just somewhat lankier. He has good speed, good run defender, better than average at coverage so I'd rather see him at SS. He can blitz, defend the pass, has decent fluidity in his hips to turn and run. I don't currently view him as a WILL LB but he could learn and get some reps to become a WILL LB. He has to get stronger to shed blocks if he's going to be a true WILL LB. He's not a prospect for MLB at all.

I'd take him in those 6th round slots but I believe he'll be long gone by that time.

same as above with Mebert's liking of Hansen except I don't view Bush as top 10, top 15, or even 1st round draft prospect.
He has no true roll due to size limitations. The Ohio State game should prove that. He couldn't cover RB JK Dobbins on wheel routes nor could he cover Mike Weber out of the backfield and Weber is somewhere in the 4.55-4.6 range if that.. IMO only, he too belongs as a nickel LB if not being turned into a SS and not just an in the box solely SS. Bush has speed to cover players when he has them in front of him but not on a regular basis to chase from behind and hope he catches up to them.

Keep am eye out for DE Montez Sweat from Miss. State tomorrow in his game against Iowa at 11 a.m. CST. This kid, imo, has the best pass rush arsenal of any DLineman in this entire class. He excelled at getting to the qb in the Auburn, LSU and Bama games. Not just sacks but also creating qb pressures and qb hurries. He nots a lot in the strength and conditioning program from an NFL team because he's lanky. 6'6 and around 240 lbs. allegedly. He doesn't offer a whole helluva lot against sealing the edge versus the run but he's not horrible at it.

Texas DE Charles Omenihu is another DE that I like to replace Ansah's spot as a 7/8/9 tech weakside DE. Omenihu is 6'6 275 with fairly long arms, good strength against the run but not exceptional. He needs to learn the complete tree of pass rush moves but does have a decent rip/swim and occasional spin. He has 25+ starts to his career. Texas plays Georgia at 7:40 p.m. CST on espn.

On the flip side Georgia DE/rush LB De'Andre Walker is worth taking a look at. He played in all 15 games last year and took over Lorenzo Carter's place. Walker is 6'2 245 and appears a little more fluid than Carter was. He has some ability to drop in space for zone and man coverage. This kid gave Bama tackles fits in the SEC CG.

Sounds like a guy that MP would take for his Defense. We also desperately need someone who can cover a TE.

He played safety for a few years at Utah. He was good, was All PAC 12 team as a safety his sophomore year. Being all conference in 2 spots is a good sign I think. 6th or 7th round would be a good spot.

I don't think he is ever a star, but I think he is a 10 year player that brings positives to whatever team he is on.
