LJ Scott late would be fine with me.

Any RB before the 4th would not be fine with me. Sign old guys.

I could deal with that 4th round or preferably even a round or two later. LJ Scott would be a great choice, imo.

If BQ drafts a RB this year before the 5th round there had better be such a huge margin of value with that RB over other positions that it warrants the pick. imo.

also to note is that Scott has some proven reps as a quality pass-pro RB. Systems like MSU, LSU, Bammer, U of M, Georgia, just name a few, usually have a RB that has a leg up in pass-pro (not always but usually)

At only 5-9 I think 200 is pretty stocky. No red flags other than pass blocking. I would be ok to get him in the 3rd and definitely 4th. I would wait to see what's left on the board before determining it.

100% agree with what I highlighted.

I think there'll be quite a few RB's left on day 3 to choose from.

I'm more concerned with drafting a coverage LB (because there are only a few that stick out in this draft) that can start day 1 in regular season and the same goes for CB2 (because the same exists in this position group just as much in the LB group).

There are a lot of LB/CB, in quantity, in this draft but there are few, on paper, that could/should be capable of stepping in and starting day 1 of regular season games. just my opinion. and playing decent at their position while knowing there'll be peaks and valleys.

I would put a quality starting RG from this draft above another drafted RB. I've never been one who thinks that you can just randomly find a starting caliber OL or LB from a draft in 5th round like many who've posted such a statement on this board. FA at RG will determine if one is needed in this draft but should BQ sign another questionable FA like Wiggins or keep Lang then that position should be a priority if they want the running game to produce. Value has to be there obviously should they draft a RG.

Lions should have power-running options in middle rounds of NFL Draft

With a month before the opening free agency and a little more than two months until the draft, the Lions are still evaluating their options. Coach Matt Patricia notes the team isn't zeroing in on a specific type of back to complement Johnson.

"As we push forward into this year, we're still trying to always evaluate those players who can help us," Patricia said at the team's season ticket holder summit last week. "Certainly, if we can get anybody with that kind of talent that can be a home-run hitter, at any point in time, we're obviously going to take advantage of that when we can. But there's also something to be said about that guy that can kind of just grind it out, be that powerhouse back."

Lions should have power-running options in middle rounds of NFL Draft

Patricia noted the running back position has become highly specified in the NFL. While three-down players remain the preference, they've become tougher to find. General manager Bob Quinn chimed in saying the three-down options also cost more, both in free agency and how early they need to be taken in the draft.

"To get another Kerryon would be great, but it's a matter of cost," Quinn said.

Lions should have power-running options in middle rounds of NFL Draft

There's a perception the Lions will be looking to add a power option to the roster to replace Blount, one who can reliably convert short-yardage and goal line carries. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper, during a Tuesday conference call, highlighted a number of options who fit that bill the Lions could look at beyond the first round.

"Well, I think when you're looking at somebody that's a powerful option, Rodney Anderson, from Oklahoma, coming back from the injury, Elijah Holyfield from Georgia, Benny Snell Jr. from Kentucky," Kiper said. "Those are some guys. And Damien Harris (of Alabama), in the second round."

Speaking of power. Look at this picture of the WR DJ Metcalf. Dude is a super freak.

Rotoworld fantasy College Football news and analysis

NFL.com's Gil Brandt lists Georgia CB Deandre Baker as one of the available defensive backs worth targeting for teams in need.
This is interesting, because this list not only includes draft prospects, but NFL free agents. The only two defensive backs that Brandt ranks above Baker are both established NFL stars: Seahawks All-Pro safety Earl Thomas, and former Eagles/Bills corner Ronald Darby. Brandt believes Baker can play all three positions at the next level, and that he "excels" in press coverage. He also mentions the Broncos as a team that Baker could fit with, especially if free agent corner Bradley Roby leaves. The other two college players listed by Brandt are LSU's Greedy Williams (5th) and Vanderbilt's Joejuan Williams (10th).

Speaking of CB in this draft class. I think of all those prospects that are available for this draft, the ones who could/should be able to beat out Lawson as an outside/boundary CB and start the regular season as such would be- and not necessarily in order;

Byron Murphy
DeAndre Baker
Greedy Williams
Julian Love
Amani Oruwariye

The others like JoeJuan Williams, Trayvon Mullen, Rock Ya-Sin, Kris Boyd etc need to be eased into the play time and may need sub-package play only in the beginning. jmo.

I'm also hoping that this kid blows up the combine and passes his medicals (neck surgery back in early November I believe, btw former Clemson WR Mike Williams had similar surgery and became top 10 drafted WR) so as some team jumps up to trade for him. Maybe Buffalo might be interested in him for their 1st year QB Josh Allen. They had literally no one other than 2018 UDFA Robert Foster (bama kid) and 2nd year WR Zay Jones.

Trade down a little bit and still get LB Devin White. I don't believe in all the hype that White is a top 10 player even though he's considered the best coverage LB this draft class.

NFL Draft Scout's Rob Rang lists Auburn DT Dontavius Russell as a potential Day 3 sleeper in the 2019 NFL Draft class.
Russell has been considered by many draft analysts as a player who has a high floor as a run-stuffer, but there are questions about his ceiling because of his skillset. Rang doesn't seem to agree with this, but that doesn't mean that Russell can't help. "He isn't going to wow anyone with his agility as a pass rusher - recording just six sacks over his career - but he's a steady run-stuffing presence whose size and strength will appeal to 4-3 and 3-4 disciples, alike and I love his effort in lateral and downfield pursuit," Rang writes. There are certainly more exciting defensive tackle prospects in this class, but those looking for a two-down lineman to help get teams into third-and-long will likely look hard at Russell.

as a possibility in 6th or 7th round. He might be worth a look as a rotational piece.

The Athletic's Dane Brugler lists Notre Dame CB Julian Love eighth among cornerbacks prior to the combine in the 2019 NFL Draft class.
Love (5'11/191) was among the most dominant corners in college football last year, and anyone who watched the game against Clemson saw how much the Fighting Irish missed him when he left with injuries. Brugler calls Love's agility "outstanding," and that he can "instinctively track the football down the field." Those instincts are important, as Brugler notes that Love is not going to win with speed; although he did post a 4.46 second 40-yard dash at his early pro day with the Fighting Irish. Brugler also notes that he's not going to help in the run game, and his "lack of ideal size, speed and suddenness will be tougher to mask vs. NFL receivers." Still, Brugler notes that Love has "velvet feet," and in his summary, notes that his ball skills and intelligence are worth betting on.

Brugler is full of shit that Love isn't going to help in the run game. He absolutely can and has produced in the run game.

The Athletic's Dane Brugler ranks Temple CB Rock Ya-Sin fifth among cornerbacks prior to the combine in the 2019 NFL Draft class.
There are quite a few prospects that intrigue with their size in this class, and Ya-Sin -- listed at 6-foot, 189-pounds -- is another one of those prospects, with Brugler noting his "rocked up, muscular frame." He also cites his "excellent" ball skills, and ability/willingness to help in the run game. Like many of the other "big" corners, Brugler has questions about Ya-Sin's speed, and that he needs to improve his timing in press coverage. "...[Ya-Sin]is a late bloomer," Brugler writes in his summary, "[but he] stays dialed in with his eyes in the right place and outstanding competitive toughness, projecting best in a zone-heavy scheme."

I am no draft expert but from what I saw. His burst and closing speed is elite. He also seems to have better instincts than J. Davis.
