The Bengals had former Steeler Limas Sweed in for a visit Friday. Great. Let's go get a guy who blows more than the ones we have. The Bengals are taking this "let's sign talented guys who have sucked" thing too far. Let's go find JaMarcus Russell and Vernon Gholston.

LOL! The Bengals player acquisition strategy is comical -- I think they pay a guy to review the last 10 years of the draft. Any player chosen in the first 2 rounds that is currently unemployed (and cheap) gets a tryout with the team.

There is a reason why some guys bust. Sweed was not a good receiver - He proved it time and time again. It would be one thing if injuries simply derailed an otherwise promising career, but that isn't the case here. He sucked when he was healthy.

He almost had a TD catch once, but dropped it.

Some times its not the player but the situation that they're placed in. Some teams simply have horrible position coaches that can not develop talent. Case in point, Denver (Tory James: 2nd Rd-44th- 1996, Deltha O'Neal: 1st Rd-15th- 2000, Willie Middlebrooks: 1st Rd-24th- 2001, Domonique Foxworth: 3rd Rd-97th- 2005, Alphonso Smith: 2nd Rd-37th-2009) cannot develop CB's while Jacksonville (R.Jay Soward: 1st Rd-29th-2000, Reggie Williams: 1st Rd- 9th-2004, Matt Jones: 1st Rd-21st-2005, Mike Sims-Walker: 3rd-79th-2007) cannot develop WR's. Hell they cant coach up any players (Reggie Nelson, Derrick Harvey, Quentin Groves). It was amazing how Jack Del Rio kept his job for as long as he did. But there was talent there and if Sweed is anything close to the player he was before tearing his Achilles tendon then he's worth a look.

I don't think Pittsburgh is a good example of a team struggling to develop talent..... They have some of the best receivers in the league, year in and year out.

I'm just saying you have to look at the situation he was in. After he had his drops he got buried in their doghouse then he got injured. To be honest he never got a chance, ala Jerome Simpson, to redeem himself.

Maybe we can move him to running back.

I think Wildcat is the place for him to be.

Though, with his speed, he could probably play some CB. We have a dire need of those. Or even safety.
