Agree or Disagree, doesnt matter to me. Yu Darvish is the best RHP on the planet. :yahoo:

As of right now I'll still take King Felix over Darvish and even though he's had his ups and downs this season I'll still take Verlander. Then I'll take Darvish but he's definitely closing in on King Felix as long as he continues to get better.

I would only take Felix over him right now. But you never know if he could end up with th better numbers at the end of the year. I also think he will be next year. Oh and since coming back from the DL hes 4-1 with a 1.31 ERA 34.1 innings 50 Ks 6 BB 19 hits, this is in 5 games. Thats Pedro status there !

The talking heads on MLB network broke it down according to "them" last night. They think Scherzer, Felix and Yu are the leading candidates for the Cy Young in the AL right now. Two of three commenters gave the thumbs up to Scherzer because of his record. One said Yu because of his ERA, BAA and Ks. All three said let it play out to see who has the better winning percentage at the end of the season. Seems everyone is caught up on winning percentage or total number of wins. I understand that. However this is how they stack up according to the stats MLB network used:

ERA-Hernandez is top in AL right now with a 2.28 ERA, then comes Yu and then Scherzer
K's- Well we all know Darvish not only leads the AL but all of MLB
Wins-yes of course it is Scherzer and no one is close. He has one loss and we all know which team beat him:)
WHIP: Scherzer is lead with Yu not far behind (third)
BAA: .186 for Darvish is best in AL. Scherzer is second and Felix is 7th

I love how when a pitcher has a good era and poor W-L record they say that wins are a team stat. Then when puffing up a pitcher with a lot of wins, they discount the team aspect and it means the pitcher is the best.

Let me guess one of them was Harold Reynolds that said winning Percentage is a great stat? :laugh3: Which guy picked Yu? In my mind the race is pretty close right now and should be played out but winning percentage is a horrible stat. Heck I have chris sale in my top 5

As of today, I'd have to give it to Felix. YU mentioned his 2.28, but he also has thrown 20+ more innings than the others that are mentioned here. I put a lot of importance in that. Kuroda should probably be in the convo with those 3 guys as well, with Sale looking through the peep hole.

Disagree, but thats okay. I think there are at least 4 better ones, but he is fucking good.

Harvey and Felix without a doubt. And you can make a case for Scherzer, Verlander (off year but still effective), Greinke, Zimmerman, Kuroda and possibly more.

I too am all about innings when it comes to best pitchers. Find me the guy that has thrown more quality innings than other guys and you have my Cy Young. To this day I have no clue how Nolan Ryan was screwed out of winning the Cy Young in his career. Look at his 1974 stats and tell me how he didn't deserve to win Cy Young....

What... haha I named like 6 right there... maybe not all of them are better but you can make an argument that they've done it more consistently for a longer period of time. Not taking anything away from Yu, but he did this same thing late last year too. If he did this for a whole season then that's cy young quality, but he had like a 10 start stretch there where he wasn't that great.

I can agree on harvey and Felix but I disagree on the rest of them

Harvey, Felix, and possibly Scherzer. I'd take Yu over all the others in a heartbeat. We're talking about how good they are at this point in time, not 2-3 years ago.

I think Darvish is doing fantastic right now but, as far as Cy Young goes, I don't think this year is his year. This is only his second year in the MLB and he will only continue to improve in the next few years so watch out ;)

Ya but I mean you can't look at justin verlander this year and say anyone is better than him... he's having an off year but before the season started he was far ahead as the best pitcher in the AL for sure.

I would have 2 different list if asked to name the best RHP in the game, vs the best RHP THIS season. Harvey for example would be on my this years list ahead of a guy like Weaver, but wouldn't be on my overall list ahead of Weaver.

Wainwright is another name that hasn't been mentioned

He may have been far ahead as the best pitcher before this season started but he's not right now and that's what matters. Again, I'm judging based on their performance at this point in time, not in the past.

Still wouldn't take scherzer over him but that's just me. Hes rotter in a lot of things besides w-L record

Jose Fernandez is a guy too.. Kuroda is having a great year, Zimmerman is having a great year, shields, Garza, Iwakuma. So it's really difficult to say that Darvish is the best after one dominant outing against a AAA team
