So were the Dolphins incredibly desperate for signing a "cast off" from the Lions? Ngata's situation was the same as Suh's. Instead of playing the season with the enormous cap hit (in Ngata's case -- it was almost 17 million) -- they tried to re-sign him and when they couldn't get a deal done, they dealt him to save 8.5 million in cap space.

And like perennial SB contender franchises -- they were proactive and had spent a high pick on Timmy Jernigan, in case something like this happened. If the Lions were proactive -- Aaron Donald would have been on Detroit and we wouldn't have needed to scramble to try and fill the DT spots.
Even if we hadn't been proactive either Donald or Zach Martin should be a fucking Lion right now. Trenches < Pass-Catchers, imo...

Please. The Lions got down on their hands and knees and begged Suh to change his mind.

Was that before or after they capped their offer at 2 million less than the dolphins per year?

Highest paid WLB. Based on the hype, I'd think he'd be a lot closer to top paid 4-3 backer.
Highest paid 4-3 OLB, not just WLB. And don't you forget it.

I am satisfied. Even my cheap ass thinks it is fair for both sides. It is about what I would have done. Maybe even guaranteed a couple million more. Remember that this starts next year when we have a few extra dollars to spend.

I can go one step further. Any position player other than the kickers > Tight end in the 1st round.
I'm not with you on that one. I fucking love TEs. What New England had going for a minute there with two elite TEs was absolute hell for defenses.

Obviously he's a one-of-a-kind, but I'd take Gronk over most (not quite all) high-end WRs every day of the week.

I got no problem with the Ebron pick in a vacuum, but the Donald pick was soooo obvious, and then we passed on him... fuck!

I love TE's too -- Just not in the 1st round, not with a top 10 pick and definitely not a TE who struggled with drops in college.

I still think Ebron will be a solid pro -- the pick just made absolutely no sense to me.

Any predictions on what Lavonte David will now get? Closer to Wagner or closer to Levy?

I wouldn't be surprised if he was paid more than both. TB can't afford to lose him or let him get to free agency. At 25 -- his best years are still ahead for him.

I can echo this. I feel he gets paid just a touch more and for same reasons as MikeD states.

Levy 6 years 90 million, 40 million guaranteed

While I agree, this (or more) is the kind of money Levy and his agent will get from someone. The bar has been set.

Levy and his agent have been waiting for this a Houston deal to get done. That's how it works.

40-50 million guaranteed. That's what Levy will ask for, because statistically, he was a top 3 LB last year (assuming he doesn't go all year without a new contract).

He will get more than Lavonte David, so we have to wait for that show to drop.

Bye bye Levy

He gone. Suh all over again.

They must have offered him top dollar.

Predictions are either right or wrong. Sometimes I'm wrong.

Levy signed an extension

Lavonte David will make more.

Swarm was right.

Sucks for Levy that he's making 300 and some grand a year while his beard gets its 8 per.

(Does this deal work out to be half as muh per season as what they would have paid via the tag?)

The beard deserves it though. And if the beard leaves we are only on the hook for a small amount for Levy. I think it would have been over 10 mil a year by next year for a tag so we save a little probably.

Probably $34 to $35 million to beat out Levy's deal by just enough so that he becomes the highest paid OLB instead...

It's in out best interest for the beard to stay. Not worth the savings for DeAndre to play babyfaced.

I thought the tag was going to be around 15-16mil? Either way, hopefully TheBeard gives Levy a weekly stipend.
