What in your estimation is a "scrub team"?

Titans, Jags, Raiders, Bucs. You can probably add Jets and Bears too. Those 2 teams will most likely be dumpster fires this year as well.

If I were McCoy's agent I would delay and delay wanting the ridiculous Suh deal to get done first and then ask for the same or better. I saw an article recently, believe it was Bleacher Report, that ranked the DT's in the league. Suh was #5 and McCoy #1. He has every reason to want more

Good call there, Mayhew Jr.

Houston got pass rusher money. Levy won't get pass rusher money. I'm guessing more along the lines of $25 mil guaranteed. He's better than David though, especially from what we saw in Lovie's scheme last season.

The Lions plan to open extension talks with WLB DeAndre Levy.

Levy is entering the final season of a three-year, $9.8M deal. With Detroit moving on from Ndamukong Suh, Levy and Haloti Ngata are candidates for extensions.

Levy has been one of the league's best outside linebackers the last two seasons. He finished behind only Khalil Mack and Von Miller in the beloved PFF's 2014 ratings.

Whether Levy gets a big contract or not really depends on whether his agent is bright enough to read Bleacher Report.

Yes, but can you sink a battleship or operate?

I'm a Cowboys fan and feel this is too much money for DeAndre Levy. Like one said, the reason he got Watt-esque money, is because he tallied 22 sacks last season. In this passing league now, you need to get after the passer, and they were able to give him a deal less than Watt's to still make him (Justin Houston) content enough to stay with the Chiefs.

Now Levy is a different story because he's a 4-3 outside linebacker and though he's performed well, he isn't worth 90 million... I respected the Lions franchise for not overpaying for Ndamukong Suh, but they best not overpay for DeAndre Levy.

Don't respect them too much. They tried to pay him everything they had, Miami just had a little more to give him. That's the difference between teams like Dallas/Denver and Detroit. Here, Mayhew would have been forced to pay them the Megatron money they wanted, or they'd walk for greener pastures. You perennial playoff team types don't have these problems.

You guys might be right about Levy. Maybe 40 mill guaranteed is excessive, but he's still gonna ask for big bucks. Is he worth being paid as the highest or second highest 4-3 backer in the NFL? I guess if he can do what he did lags year, this year, without Suh, then ya. But I don't think he can.

No way in hell I give Levy 40 million guaranteed. Let him play out this year, franchise him one year and let walk after he's into his 30's. That gives you two drafts and free agency periods to find his replacement.
