Marino had the quickest release I think I have seen but I think Peyton all in all was the better pure passer. What ever the hell Pure Passer means?

I'm not sure I would describe Peyton Manning as one of the best pure passers. His strength was his knowledge of the game, ability to read/deceive defenses, audibles at the LOS, getting the ball out quickly and putting it in the exact right spot every time. He drilled with his WR corp over and over and over to perfect their timing.

He never had a strong arm and here in Denver toward the end of his career, there were plenty of wobbly ducks. Guys like Marino and Elway fit the pure passer definition better for me.

Elway IMO was more of a gun slinger then a pure passer at least that's how I saw him. Not to say that was a bad thing the man was fricking great.

Yeah, I'm with you on Peyton. His mind was his biggest asset. Not really a pure passer so much but good enough with the arm.
Pure passers and arm talent have to go to Marino. Best passer I ever watched.

Scared the shit out of Belichic too, making him go for it 4th and 2 inside NE"s 30 with a 4 pt lead. Other coaches would have punted and put in hands of D, we know how that turned out

Bill will always try unorthodox calls. Hard to be the best when you do the predictable.
And Kevin Faulk had more room on that play to get more distance but did not, and was then pushed back as he caught the ball.
Bad execution more than bad play call.

IMHO...

He bobbled the ball at first, and when he secured it he didn't have the yardage.

That team was known more for offense than defense. It was 2 years later that our defense took center stage.

I guess I got the Denver team you were talking about confused. Of course that team which broke all kinds of offensive records had it's ass positively handed to it in the Superbowl against the Seahawks.

Not a good look for Manning or the Broncos. ;)

Yes. The Patriots had to come in and put the Seahawks in their place. Where they've remained ever since I might add.
