I said Jermaine Dye, but I'm probably older.

My only fear with Lewis, the same fear I have will all rookies, is he really dropped in power and average. He hit 11 for his last 75 for a .147 average (September stats) with 3 HR's, 7 RBI's.
Can’t remember. Was Dye as good of a fielder as Lewis thus far has shown?

:pound:LOL- My post from way back in last spring/summer. Still wearing the masks in 2021 and things are still a friggin mess. Never thought things would still be crazy. Oh well...."and so it goes".
Well that model they broke out last year of playing all the games in Arizona, Texas and Florida may be back on the table then.

Solid defender until his knees slowed him down, but never spectacular in my opinion.

Can’t believe that is all the Indians got for Lindor. It’s the equivalent of Sheffield/Dunn, Fraley/Trammell and Donnie Walton or another fringe guys.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports the Red Sox have been in “serious trade talks with multiple teams” centered around outfielder Andrew Benintendi.

Bowden also notes that the Red Sox are seeking a prospect package in return with an emphasis on acquiring an outfielder or pitcher as the potential centerpiece. However serious discussions have been so far, a deal doesn’t appear imminent. Benintendi is coming off a massively disappointing 2020 campaign in which he was limited to just 14 games due to a strained rib cage. The 26-year-old former elite prospect eclipsed the 15-homer and 20-steal plateaus in back-to-back seasons, after putting together a strong rookie debut in 2016, before enduring a dismal 2019 campaign in which he posted an underwhelming .266/.343/.431 triple-slash line with 13 homers and 10 steals in 615 plate appearances.

Sure, but for what the Indians got, the Mariners could have gotten him for prospects that have more upside and are on the right side of the notepad. Jesus, if somehow we could’ve the Rays, Indians and Mariners and one other team involved in a trade we could’ve netted Snell and Lindor and not touch Kelenic, JRod, Gilbert or Hancock. I don’t even care about Carassco though but if Jerry is serious about a 6 man rotation he needs another MLB starter.

Snell would be different but a guy like Lindor needs to spend the season in Seattle before extension negotiations. In MLB, NFL and back in the day the NBA you had to overpay for free agents but once they spent the year in the city they took hometown discounts. Seattle has always been a market where you have to sell the city not the team and only the Seahawks have done and even those contracts are garbage compared to MLB.

I brought up the Lindor idea on the other site like a week or two ago because I knew the Mariners could easily have them for not much if they wanted but that they likely wouldnt care to add him. They need to make some sort of move to jump start this rebuild . Lindor would have fit that bill imo.

Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reports that the White Sox have signed free agent reliever Liam Hendriks.

MLB.com's Mark Feinsand adds that it's a three-year deal with a fourth-year club option and will carry a $54 million overall guarantee. Interestingly, per ESPN's Jeff Passan, Hendriks will make $39 million through the first three years and then there is a $15 million buyout on the option, which is also worth $15 million. Finalization of the agreement is only pending the necessary pre-signing physical exam. Hendriks was also said to be drawing serious interest from the Dodgers, Blue Jays, and Mets, but the White Sox apparently out-bid the competition to fill a big void in their closer role. The 31-year-old righty posted a brilliant 1.79 ERA, 0.897 WHIP, and 161 strikeouts in 110 1/3 innings with the A's between 2019-2020 while earning a total of 39 saves.

So the Mariners have missed on all of the free agents they need for 2022, can’t someone pull off a deal for Snell and Lindor...but can afford to bring Iwakuka back as the highest paid consultant in history (if you add in his trips back and forth to Japan)

Not sure how legit this is but given the track record, i tend to buy it. Just because they think fans are stupid. True to the blue
