Im the one arguing for free market capitalism. Lol.
When you look at the big picture, no you aren't. Like every Socialist/Communist movement ever started there are two classes of people. 10% very well to do and 90% starving. Your team is in the 10% so it's cool I guess.

This is going to ruin college sports. IMO

What? Naa, instead of leasing vehicles now we can just gift a BMW to every recruit and all they have to say is I got 100k likes on Instagram. :thumb:

And that’s less important than principals obligated to labor for free in a multi multi billion dollar industry.
What don’t you get about that? the time of amateur college football is past. It’s not a fun campus diversion. It’s a multi multi billion dollar industry. It. Is. Not. Amateur. In. Any. Way.

A head is important. A multi billion dollar monopoly on the backs of unpaid labor isn’t.
Unpaid? Many of these kids will earn more in scholarship money, free rent, food and healthcare in the four years they attend college then at their most lucrative 4 year period after graduation for the rest of their life. So you are for breaking up Google, Facebook and Twitter as well?

I do get that. And those consequences will have to be ironed out because those consequences are absolutely not as important as the basic economic freedom of the principals in a multi multi billion dollar industry.

No one is forcing them to go to college?!? Hell, why bother with CFB at all? They can go from high school to starring in commercials and autograph sessions.

How dare the NCAA force them to take 6 figure scholarships to play a game?!? Give them state of the art facilities and coaching. Free equipment and apparel. Free room and board. The list goes on and on.

This is a door the NCAA DOES NOT want open, because it will be the end of amateur sports. Recruiting will consist of which school alums will give me the most money and the gap between teams will grow much bigger.

Way I see it — yank scholarships altogether. Make the football players pay their own way and allow them all to make money on the side. Give the scholarships to people who deserve it for academics.

Win/win for everyone. Only problem is 50% of college football players couldn’t afford to go to college, so the level of play will drop quite a bit. But a handful of players will make a few dollars!!!

Lol. I served and I own a business but I'm a communist socialist because I think players should be able to capitalize (capitalism) on thier likeness and talents. Great argument. Lol

Im cool with that. Pay them the cost of a four or five year education and if they want the education they can pay for it and also that frees the ones who can make extra money to make all they want. Lol.

It does not matter what YOU or I or THE NCAA or ANYONE EKSE thinks of their compensation. The fact that the principals don’t get to negotiate for it in a multi multi billion dollar industry is unfair, unAmerican, illegal, and immoral. It’s laughable on its face. How many times do I have to write this?

“No one is forcing you” is not an argument to support an industrial monopoly. In what world can you even write that in black and white?
And again: this is not an amateur sport. The colleges make millions. The coaches make millions. The broadcasters make millions. The endorsers pay and make millions. It’s a multi billion dollar industry.
It. Is. Not. Amateur. At. All.

Well there you are.

It was a good run fellas.

Gives me more time to fish.
Correct. You can’t get to maximize your enjoyment of an entertainment monopoly on the backs of indentured servants. That’s correct.
We don’t allow that in America because it is unfair, immoral, etc.

As a funny aside, who are the idiots blaming this on liberal politics??? How is arguing against a monopoly and for a person being able to negotiate for his or her monetary compensation a “liberal” idea.

You fucking status quo warriors are laughable.

What? How is this ANY different than accepting any job or contract. When it comes to scholarships there are usually multiple offers, no one is forcing a kid to say yes, they choose of their own free will. I was in business for myself for 20 years and have worked for the State of Idaho for the last 9. Like every other State employee I signed an agreement prior to getting hired regarding both starting a business AND accepting a second job. If I decide to capitalize on my image or bring in any extra income I have to report it. You damn near have to commit a felony to get fired by the State, but they will walk you in a second if they think you have a time and financial priority above them.

How is it different that one cannot sign an endorsement contract, get even a free meal from a potential future employer, Etc? You’re asking how that is different than a regular job.
And if what you say about your state employer is true, then that should be laughed out of existence as well. did you think you made a substantive retort here?

There are plenty of businesses in the Boise area that would love to have players from the Broncos representing their business.

I didn’t say it was. Not once. Of course it is NOT good for the multi billion dollar monopoly.

Listen dude, no one is not suggesting there needs to be a little reform. For fucks sake we had four dudes suspended for 4 games a few years ago for driving a recruit to McDonalds and allowing him to crash on their couch without charging rent. But a deal is a deal. I like America but hate how a lot of my tax money is spent. I have an option I guess, just not willing to move Canada and pay even more.
