Florida has a black population of 29% and Sanford Florida is 30%. 30% of 12 is 3.6...or if that were people 4. So yes demographic aware people would want 4 people on that jury. Before you say that the US is where the trial was that law is a florida law not US wide.

Imagine you are driving through the South Side of Chicago.. and you car breaks down. As you are repairing the flat, you are attacked and end up shooting the assailant. Would you want a jury of people from that area (i.e. full of gang bangers who all feel it was a racial killing)?

I know I wouldn't... law has no place there. It is all about vengeance.

There is a difference between disliking some one because they have wronged you and disliking and judging some one you have never met and have no information on other than how you perceive their appearance.

I have to think that if you wanted to get off of what ever charges you were being accused of the local law abiding citizens that put up with the gangs day in and day out would be your best ally. That being said, if you chased and instigated a confrontation with an unarmed african american child I assume any racist bigot from florida is who you want on the jury. And not anybody in any way that can identify with the victim, be it through race or by having a child or even someone who has been profiled.

In 1974 during a pre-season game, Kareem's eye got raked, he got pissed and punched the stanchion that supports the basket. He missed the first 16 games due to a broken hand and played in 65 games that year.

Then in the 77-78 opening game of the season, he punched a dude in retaliation because Jabbar was on the receiving end of a hard elbow to the face. He broke his hand again and played in only 62 games that season.

If that would not have happened and say he plays 78 games in both years, the least amount of games he would have played in a season would have been 74. Which was his 20th and last season of his career.

So obviously he was on PED's because he never twisted his ankle, broke his leg, separated his shoulder or tore his ACL like other non user's of today.

stand your ground is florida law.. but it wasnt used in this case. zimmerman claimed self defense.

also, the decision was right. the prosecution had no case. Zimmerman had a broke nose and split open skull. he does have the right to self defense. if the prosecution could have proven zimmerman did something illegal, then they would have him. maybe started the fight. they had nothing. case never should have gone to trial. following a kid and getting out of your car is not illegal. it just isnt. it makes him a douche.. but not guilty of anything illegal.

Drop the race bullshit too. Google Chris Cervini and Roderick Scott. Same shit happened before but an unarmed 17 year old white kid was gunned down by a black man. the black guy walked.. and should have.

It's a sad case and both parties were in the wrong, imo!! Zimmerman should have remained in his car as he was instructed to do and Trayvon should have gotten out of that neighborhood as quickly as he could, rather than confront and apparently attack Zimmerman!!

It's unfortunate that if either of them had simply done one thing differently, Trayvon would still be alive and Zimmerman would not have had to go through a trial that could have landed him in prison for the rest of his life!!

Being a Sammy Sosa fan, he too stayed relatively injury free during his youthful years. But once he got to his mid-30's, all the random minor injuries started to catch up to him (sprained toe, tweaking his back while sneezing, etc, etc). Sosa put up all-time great numbers during the prime of his career, but in his final year with us came along in 2004, he was just another power hitter than didn't stand out in absolutely anything. Not saying LeBron will ever suffer a major injury, but his game is completely reliant on pure athleticism and we'll see his game start to break down dramatically once he gets into his 30's (see J-Rich as well as proven steroid users Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu).

Several things - Zimmerman had the weapon - not the other way around. Everytime someone has threatened me with a gun or a knife - I felt threatened. Second - it's the middle of the night and Zimmerman approached Trayvon with a loaded gun - not the other way around. Had That been a white man killed by a black man in a black neighborhood - we all know that a Black Zimmerman would have absolutely been convicted of 1st degree murder.

I believe the jury interpreted it as child stalks man and gets killed in self defense. That's the way I see it, too. The Zimmerman case never should have come to trial due to lack of evidence.

The Stand your ground law isn't a bad law at all if it's applied the right way and used for everyone. The way it's twisted is disgusting. If someone breaks into my house with my wife and kids, why should I worry about going to jail for protecting them?
